Interested to see the featured photo on the Milspot homepage is of Canuck troops kicking in a door in Afghanistan.. also the click on newsflash about the loss of 4 of our boys in a firefight with the Taliban in Kandahar outskirts.. Usual handwringing coming from the left libb types about how ' our mission has changed' and we should all pull out and come home because we're not' peacekeeping' anymore we're - gosh - actually fighting a war!!.. So far the count is Canada 23 Taliban 100's but that doesn't have the same impact on the simple folk reading the morning fishwrap as they don't know aand don't see the faces of the dead Taliban or hear from their moms and das on whether the losses of Taliban ' kids' in the shooting match are a ' good thing '..
Interesting to note from them in the know that the Taliban ' insurgents' are coming from Pakistan, Chechnya and other ' outside areas' as well as a mix of hardline leftovers and some ' conscripts ' from the warlord militias who have their own agendas in keeping things out of government/coalition hands especially now when the poppy crops are a comin' in..

The ' enemy' has a whole diffferent take on warfare that the folks back home can't seem to grasp.. Latest assault came from rocket launchers placed in a school [ sound familiar? ].. Here we see schools as a way to educate boys and girls, equality, knowledge, growth, etc. etc.. the Taliban see those structures as subverting Islam and making girls uppity and questioning their place in the kitchens woe betide some kid actually asks a question about something instead of spouting the party/Koran line...
