Seriously, you guys have got it 'going on'...

First, let me 'out' myself... I am a white, heterosexual, male, veteran (Nam), husband, father... raised in the South (GA) and live in the North (NYC/NJ).

All of the statistics that I have ever read about Gay men... range from 8% -12% of the population... no matter what that population is... the Marine Corp, the NFL, and of course it may get larger or smaller (fashion designers or a particular Firehouse in Brooklyn) as the case may be.

The sterotypes (some alluded to here) are garnered primarily by what we see and think we know... versus what is actually the case.

That's why they are potentially dangerous.

I don't know how big some of you guys are physically or how tough you are personally... but the idea that we would just "punch someone out if they messed with us" is often not a realistic option, although it may make us feel good having said it.

All you have to do is go over to the West Side Highway in NYC on any given weekend this summer... and get your sterotype straightened out quickly!

Some of those guys are phreakin' monsters and if you wanted to do battle with a 'queer'... my advice is to bring your lunch. <grin>

Thud apparently has BTDT in the workplace. I too have managed homosexuals (Gay/Lesbian) over an extended period of time... 70's - 90's...

...in the technical world (software development) during this period (much like the military now)... you had better get with the program, when it comes to talent...

...that goes for women, blacks, hispanic and anyone you want to throw in the mix!

If they can code and get along with each other... help each other out... they could be on my team.

Sexual harassment (as mentioned) cannot be tolerated... even before any laws were published and now that the laws are on the books... believe me when I tell you... there are professional purveyors of inticing sexual traps that some women use on the 'superior' male ego... as they get promoted or take them to the courthouse.

(I can hear some of the women now... offended by that truism! Bring it on! <grin>

The truth is... that it is really all about Control and that is Power!

Historically... you can look to the Ancient Greeks, but you can also look closer to our Era, where Gays were 'used' to increase a weak mans Power Base.

Hitler is a good example... early in his career and bid for power... he used Gays as an elite Officer Corp.

Then in the Night of the Long Knives... got rid of 'the problem'!

Except for sexual persuasion... Gays are people.

They are as good or as bad as everyone else.

The extremes most see on TV... characterises most of our experience, whether that be the 'swishy' stereotype or bad azz kids nailing another kid to a fence.

An interesting comparison is the idea that is fairly common (I don't much like it either)... that hetero-males don't like to 'see' homo-males 'making out'... but they sure don't mind watch lesbians 'go at it'. <grin>

What do you think that is all about? <grin>

On the other hand... what about bad azz Hetero's that are serving 25 to life or life without parole... suddenly finding themselves in need of a 'cell bitch'... whatz up wit dat!

In closing... I will offer a thought I have offered to my male hetero counterparts... some which run off at the mouth about Gays and what they would do... blah, blah, blah.

After listening quietly for a few minutes... I have offered a thought for them to ponder.

"I am not Gay and you aren't Gay... but just assume for a moment... that you were... as hard as that may be... Do you have any idea how easy it would be for you to get laid!?" <grin>

After you get past the initial 'disgust' and the 'sickening imagery'... the concept is pretty amazing for a mental transformation.

The Joke turns around and the 'getting laid' part takes over... and the poor dumb phucks actually start talking about it on a purely selfish basis.

"You wouldn't even have to buy them dinner..."

"I would always be the pitcher, never the catcher..."

Try it sometimes (the Joke that is, not the act <grin>... you will be amazed!
