Sometimes our Military victories present such a good peace that boredom and creativity soon give birth to unending " PHANTOMS ". Complexity is our worst enemy. Complexity can thrive forever too: Global Warming, terrorism, and the always exciting recession. Since 9/11 our anger and fear has either been directed at ourselves or towards the President.
These fictional creations by a small band of flabby news dopes is all it takes to keep a new money making machine ( GLOBAL WARMING ) the future lottery for left-wing loons. Have you ever noticed that the one thing nobody wants to get rid of is the car? People who claim this war is about oil should get a clue as to what runs the whole damn stupid car they got. By the way, this war that Osama started has nothing to do with your car or oil. The terrorist keep telling us that they want to destroy America and clean fuel is not on their list. If they had nukes all of our cars would melt as fast as everything else. This is what happens when our soldiers do a fantastic job as does the secret service, homeland security and FBI. People start thinking the worst is over and now it's back to American Idol for one more MOTOWN one hit wonder. |

I'll make it very simple: If America gets attacked by another team of Osamas pals, then all hell will break loose in America as well as the world. To have our Military where it now is and to still be attacked will only lead one to conclude that there is no reason for being in either Iraq or Afghanistan. That is the bottom line. For why else are we there, to adopt dogs such as a cute story I saw on Fox about dog adoptions in Iraq? No. We went there because WMD's were supposedly all over the place.

Let me make it simple for you: This post mixes so many subjects and makes connections that do not exist on topics already covered that it is difficult to read and not worth the effort to comprehend.
My original question was not intended as a taunt but as a simple question, since it has not been proven that Osama and Iraq had anything to do with each other – it seems as though you were talking about Afghanistan, which, correct me if I am wrong, has no oil. Since this is a discussion board – it may have been assumed by you that someone might have wanted to offer a point or a counter-point on this topic. As far as global warming goes – it does exist. The only thing in argument is the cause. But that is science which may be beyond your ken. I might offer this as a guide to news reporting prior to the year 2000: http://news.google.com/archivesearch?hl=en&safe=off&ie=...&oi=archive&ct=title As far as dog adoptions are concerned: People are looking for a little positive news and latching on to what they can get. This is basic human nature. Anyone who gets all of their news from one source is a fool and there are many of them out there who fall into this class. If you are so concerned about the wars. then join up and be a part of the solution. "It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it" DOUGLAS MacARTHUR, 1952 |

"If you are so concerned about the wars. then join up and be a part of the solution."
Is that supposed to be a " GOTCHA " kind of deal? That has got to be one of the laziest argument toppers I've ever read! Since when did you 2 decide only those who serve can comment on Military Strategies? I got a better one, how about only GENERALS being aloud to comment on the structures of wars, how about that one boys? By the way, EVERYBODY IN AMERICA is involved in this war, not just you 2. Sorry if that wrecks your dreams of dictatorship, that is just the kind of shit that happens in a free society. My theories are right on the mark and I read those links HarryP, did you? Yemen etc,. Didn't come across any Bin Lauden will attack America bits yet. 1) Bottom line : Americans do NOT want to understand an insane part of the world. Going by polls and stuff, you two have been out in the Sun way too long. 2) This war has been presented as " World War Something " and every year ( 7 ) there is a new name for it with a new cause. 3) Religious structures form the base of why a society becomes A,B or C. The Koran is the blueprint for Iraq's society and that won't change in a million years. Believe it or not, our ( America ) freedom is a nightmare to their beliefs. They are already set in ways. Uh...no. America doesn't even know we're at war. Ninety percent of the population does not experience even one inconvenience from this war, other than the shitty economy (which is only partly due to the war). They could care less except to decry what a shitty little nuisance this illegal war has become and how those poor young men and women are dying over there. They can't name one of them and haven't been personally touched....but they sure care. Just like you. |

Is that a swipe? I care and have proved it in more ways than most people. Every year I more or less travel to every state so I don't know where you got 90% from. It's the other way around and I should know. I'm out there speaking to thousands of people who do care, yet they are also sick of the PC way in which the war is being run.

What a typical response from a pusillanimous individual such as you appear to be. You respond by changing the original meaning of your post. Talk about a lazy argument (or none at all).
Avoid discussing the connection that you made to Iraq and 9/11 in your response – I would if I had made such a remarkable error. What PC way the war is being run? Please clarify. "It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it" DOUGLAS MacARTHUR, 1952 |

I am not changing JACK, and you know what I wrote is true. At least I use more than one sentence and actually reply. All you did was just chunk up another nutty word ( pusillanimous ) that we both know you never use in real life. You have been hanging around the " words and meaning " section too long. |

Back to my ORIGINAL TOPIC :
People cannot and will not take a threat serious unless it is presented as one. People need a focal point ( like it or not ). GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM confuses everybody and since there is no official Hitler or Stalin type, most people conclude this thing is a vast pile of what ever's all over the GLOBE. The threat is all over the damn place and most people can't and won't try to understand " Shadows " that could be anywhere at anytime. Until this war is called what it is, it will remain a complicated ghost that roams the earth at night. |

See, that's part of the issue I have with this thread. There is no original topic nor focal point. Just you ranting on about several topics all at once.....But, I seem to be understanding that you're complaining about the NAME OF THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM, though not really sure why...as in there's not any clear point you made.....You want the war called "what it is" without saying what is is you believe it ought to be called. And you keep making multiple contradictory statements, stating at one time America is back to "watching American Idol" and at another saying "EVERYBODY IN AMERICA" is involved in this war.....your point....if there is one, is completely lost in your rambling. |

You guys don't seem to get what I am writing because I am proving a point right in front of you.
I keep writing more or less the same thing except each time it is different, or is it? patoloco Everybody in America IS watching American Idol and they are INVOLVED is this " GLOBAL WAR ". They might not know it, but they are involved one way or the other. Terrorist could hit anywhere at anytime according to Homeland ( ducktape ) Security. It's simple, we are at war and so we are all involved like it or not. Osama is more or less the " LOGO " for the bad guys, yet everyday new bad guys sprout up in the Middle East. At first, President Bush claimed that Islam was a happy religion which has been hijacked by a few bad apples. 7 years later there are apple trees every where. Suddenly the word GLOBAL is snuck into a sentence and we got ourselves a massive complicated war going on. A PHANTOM war. Using big words ( GLOBAL ) only extends a perpetual neverending war within the minds of most Americans. So they change the gloomy thought of it and watch a happy TV show...like American Idol etc,. It's a Holy war. |

Although it claims it does not support terrorism, documents show that the PA/PLO has actively supported and sponsored various terrorist groups in Israel.[6][7] According to the NCIS, the PLO is "the richest of all terrorist organizations." (1993)[8][2] You guys really think Americans want to put this vast puzzle together in their minds? |

Does anybody here really think that if we caught Osama, all of these groups would go home and stop being what they are? Good luck.

I gotcha now. This would probably be of interest to you:
The Clash of Civilizations is a theory, proposed by political scientist Samuel P. Huntington, that people's cultural and religious identities will be the primary source of conflict in the post-Cold War world. The theory was originally formulated in 1993 in a Foreign Affairs article titled "The Clash of Civilizations?",[1] as a reaction to Francis Fukuyama's 1992 book, The End of History and the Last Man. Huntington later expanded his thesis in a 1996 book The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order. The term itself was first used by Bernard Lewis in an article in the September 1990 issue of The Atlantic Monthly titled The Roots of Muslim Rage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clash_of_Civilizations Here's a link to the full text of Huntington's work: http://history.club.fatih.edu.tr/103%20Huntington%20Cla...ns%20full%20text.htm So, is "Clash of Civilizations" the correct name of this "war"? We could play with it. The Millennium Year Clash of Civilizations (MYCOC)....I'm liking that one. Your list is missing a few of my favorites-- The Al-Ittihad al-Islami (AIAI) http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/ogadin.htm Nothing special about them, just that I've dealt personally with these scumbags. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...AR2007121101404.html They have also clalimed to unite in their "merger" several groups in their common cause all across North Africa (to include the GICM). And there's also Jemaat Tablighi (or Jemaat Tabligh, or Tablighi Jemaat). Not really a terrorist group, but an Islamic missionary movement (sorta like the Jehovah's Witnesses of the Islamic world). However, 14 of them were arrested just recently plotting a 11 March 2004 type attack (aka The Madrid Bombings) in Barcelona. So, in answer to your question, no I don't think catching Osama will stop this. However, catching Osama will slow them down. Bin Laden is a huge draw for recruits and his voice is a beacon for this movement. Shutting him up would go along way in stopping the extremist movement. |
