I find it odd that Al Qaeda is going after the U.S. and allies with everything they've got (which is limited at the time). But Israel, which is more in the sphere of influence of Al Qaeda, doesn't seem to have much of an Al Qaeda problem. Sure, they've got big problems with well-developed terrorist organizations, but Al Qaeda isn't a big player.
Is Al Qaeda leaving the problem up to these terrorist organizations, or is there another reason? Are they scared perhaps - scared that the Israelis would track them down to the ends of the earth utilizing whatever means necessary? It seems Al Qaeda, with geographic access to Israel, could do a lot of damage to the country. |

Tow Gunner you have hit it on the head, if Al Qaeda ever did anything to Israel they would not get far away they would not last a month. I wish that they were with us in Iraq we would see a lot of difference there.

Well,Israel is not on its own.We supply billions in government weaponry and aid (cash and goods) plus Jews here in the USA, give substantial amounts of money to various causes in Israel.
America is not on its own in the GWOT,it just seems that way sometimes. If you only see/read/hear the mainstream news, you forget (or just don't know) that there are alot of countries supporting us with economic and military assistance to Iraq/Afghanistan. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. In practice, "he that is not with me is against me. " The quickest way of ending a war is to lose it. Because they already did; and direct assaults would invoke a unilateral international force against AQ.

I am convinced that the argument seen here..... that al Quaeda knows that Israel will never rest until retribution is exacted.... is a valid one. If the US had the same philosophy, we would be much safer...
I do NOT remember who said this, BUT, When the US gets to the point that, when we are attacked, our response scares our friends.... when even those countries allied with us say in awe, "My God, did you see what they did???".... then we as a country and a people will be much safer..... IMHO, of course.... |

There in lies the rub. We were most assuredly attacked, yet where to strike back? True, we focused in on the obvious...ie: the Taliban and soon found ourselves fully engaged in Afganistan. The Taliban and Al Quaeda were partners at the hip as far as we could tell. And then we proceeded along the next most logical course over in Iraq.
As for Al Quaeda and Isreali's? They may be terrorists, they may be pissed off at the world, and those that ain't thinkin like them, they may be alot of things, but one thing they ain't is STUPID. I noticed the last post was a few months ago, but something to pass along:
I work for the Ottawa Police as a civilian and a couple of years ago our SWAT team had to arrest some Isreali 'students'. They did, without incident, and when the guys were returning some of their kit to me the comment from the guys was "Don't know why we're deporting them, they're better at catching Tangos then we are". The Rules of engagement is different for Israel toward terrorist then the rules Americans have, If Israel has a known threat they take out that threat before it happens, America try's after the threat becomes reality. I look for Israel to do something with Iran before America does considering the nuke problem... Great Post........ |

Its very simple why they do not attack israel,
unlike the united states israel is a small country with a very powerful secret service, new comers would be detected very quickly and eliminated even quicker. toodles http://www.defensedatainternational.com |
