An associete of mine wrote this up not long ago. I think it's the most honest and blunt image of the American Military i've read so far.

quote:
A DISCLAIMER

I do NOT think that troops are vile demons spawned from hell to feed off the pain and suffering of children and drink off the fluids of their rape victims. The very fact that I wrote this signifies that I don’t.

The military’s purpose.

The military’s, that is what we think of, purpose can be pretty much summed up in these two rules:

1. Defend the country from hostile invaders.
2. Be a patriot.

The REAL military’s purpose.

The military we have now is, noticeably, different from the one of the image that I spelled out above. Besides the assumed rules above, the following are also key (listed in no order), and in fact are considered more important then the above:

1. Obligation.
2. Loyalty.
3. Obedience.

The relation of these to those on the previous list is debatable at best. More on that later.

The real military’s actual purpose, and no lies or pretty truths this time.

The military is, for the more part, the arm of the administration; a government founded and funded organization designed to enforce the administration’s wishes. They fall under the command of the administration, they obey only the orders of the administration. And they act only on the orders of the administration.

This is of course flawed. The administration, regardless of who it is at the moment, follow it’s own interests. Whether the Right or Left, their primary concern is their own interests and profit. Keep in mind the military is under DIRECT command of the administration. Their ability to defend the country is extremely limited, since they cannot act without the orders of the members of the administration, which I will refer to as “Suits” from now on. Thus, effectively, the military has failed in its original purpose. Since the key rules in this organization is Obligation Loyalty and Obedience, it cannot defend the country and is totally at the whim of the self serving administration.

This is totally not true, but more on that later.

The Modern Troop

You will probably stop around this section and start writing your flames. Stop. Finish the section, and then sit back and really think about it, and you’ll see how accurate my images are.

Okay, now I will present to you the modern troop. I have spent years contemplating this based on what I have seen and heard, and I believe this is accurate.

There are generally three types of people that join the Real And No Lies Military:

1. The Elitist. We’ve all met at least one of these. They wear camo caps and spout the hairstyles even when they’re not enlisted. The military is some kind of grand thing, a thing that shines above everything, to them. They spout off praise to it at the drop of a hat, and tend to look down upon anyone who doesn’t serve as lazy or weak. They tend to have parents or relatives who have served in the past who are often Elitists themselves, there are even entire Elitist families out there.
2. The Fool. These people are, simply put, stupid or brainwashed. They have the shining image of the first set of military purpose in their minds when they join. They are so blinded by this image that they don’t notice that the real military is anything but the military they envision. They are in for a rude shock, but oops! No quitting now. The suits own you now.
3. The Failure. These are the people I hate, beyond even the Elitist. These are often the poor or minorities, or even simple slackers, who have failed at life or see no prospects in the future. They join the military because it is a near free ride to them. It pays well, anyone can get in, and the future benefits are excellent. Plus there’s the social benefits (more on that later). The military is not supposed to be a goddamn free job, but it’s treated as such anyway. These people leech off our tax dollars so they can live the same life we do, albeit with less effort and more (undeserved) respect then someone who works three times as hard for half the gain.
4. The Warmonger. This forth group is actually a new addition, appearing after the terrorist attacks. This is not the “Bomb Baghdad!” group, those are often Elitists. These people are those who believe, or were extremely heavily brainwashed into believing, that there is an enemy out there, and they DARED to attack us, and they are the FOULIST OF THE FOUL, and they must SUFFER. So enraged are they that they have joined the military for a, couscous or unconscious, mission of bloody screaming vengeance. Never mind who the enemy is, we will KILL THEM. Revenge, of course, isn’t a good reason for joining the military. Most of the atrocity doers come from this group, since they have no regard for anyone not American anymore. All the Middle Easterners must suffer, be it terrorist, insurgent, innocent civilian, even home born Americans.

Keep in mind that Americans didn’t have a pleasant image of non Americans even before that terrorist attack. Many of the first three have become Warmongers.

“Defenders of Freedom”

You cannot defend freedom.

This is not a debatable topic. One cannot defend, or attack one’s, Freedom any more then one can wage a war on Terror. It’s impossible. No matter what nation you’re born in, no matter how restrictive one’s beliefs are, no matter what situation you are in, you are always Free. Always. No one can take that away from you.

Freedom = The Ability to Choose

You always have freedom, thus you always have the right to choose. Many people think that because there are rules and laws saying you cannot do certain things you therefore CANNOT do such things. This is, of course, nonsense.

I once tossed a ball to someone I knew, and when he caught it I asked him “Why did you catch that?” He couldn’t think of a direct answer for some time. His action was automatic, even if he was unprepared and couldn’t catch it. One CANNOT think of not catching a ball.

Here’s a situation. Suppose you’re given a choice between touching a piece of paper or not touching it. If you touch it all of Earth and everyone on it will be destroyed. The obvious answer of course would be to not touch it. Some people actually would touch it. However, this situation does not remove the choice to do the opposite of what you would prefer to do. Remember, you always have a choice.

What does this have to do with the military?

Two things.

You have a choice.

Obligation. Loyalty. Obedience.

The Real And No Lies Military are, as said, pawns of the suits. They are sent off to do whatever suits the whim of the suits.

Sometimes they are told to do things that are truly vile, often on par with or worse then what the real enemy does, things that often go against the values of America. The Warmongers have no trouble doing these things. Often because they are the same people as the real enemy! Yes, there are those types of people among us, we are not shining angels. However there are many troops, often Fools, who do not want to do these things because it offends their moral or patriotic values. However, they do them anyway, because they’re “under orders” and think they don’t have a choice.

Also, as said before the ability to defend the country is being hindered by the suits. Troops were capable of halting or destroying the planes of the terrorist attack, yet were unable to. Real soldiers must ALWAYS defend their country, even if it means disobeying the suits. Remember, you always have a choice.

The suits have worked hard to paint the image that you don’t have a choice. They have made laws that make it so if a troop disobeys they are jailed or even executed. That’s how it goes. Suffering is in the job description of the soldier. One must ALWAYS defend the country and it’s ideals. Otherwise you truly have failed as a soldier. Suck it up, do your job, and take the suffering. Remember, this country was founded by the blood of those who died for it.

This is the land of the Free

It is debatable wether this is the land of the free but one thing is certain: To be patriotic is to follow this ideal.

What does this have to do with the military?

Here comes the bomb…

Those who join the Real And No Lies Military are not Patriots

Once again, as with the modern troop section, read through the whole thing and then sit back and think long and hard about what I’ve said.

Okay, now we have the land of the free. We love our freedom!

Now, the thing that is considered the most patriotic to do is to be a troop.

The modern military, as said, are the pawns of the suits who do nothing but what suits their wishes. This is blatantly obvious.

Forget that you always have a choice for a moment. So how is it that these people, who sign up for Obligation Loyalty and Obedience to people who barely (or have a warped version of) give a shit about the country? Who sell their souls (not really, as we know) to knowingly obey orders without question? How is this patriotic to OUR country?

“Support the Troops!”

I don’t know how this happened.

This is an incredibly unpopular war. It was (noticeably less however) unpopular even when it started. Millions of people hate this war. There are thousands of groups, minor and major, who protest it. Ever many suits are hating it.

And every single one, every single person, every single group, supports the troops.

Where is the reasoning behind this? THE TROOPS ARE FIGHTING THIS WAR. Since they always have a choice, they chose to fight! This war, the atrocities. the tortures, the bombing, that piles of burned meat on TV that used to be a kid, everything was caused directly by the troops. The suits may give the orders, but orders are just words until they are turned into physical reality by the TROOPS. The suits should be held accountable for their actions, but so too must the troops. And yet they get away with it all. To even suggest that they are responsible would invoke a massive and automatic backlash from pretty much anyone.

This wasn’t post-terrorist attack either. Troops have had a long history of mindless support and the ability to get away with shit. Where I live there are many shoreside bars where troops on leave or off-war whatever-it’s-called get (and I speak no lies or exaggeration) wasted and harass, molest, assault, other people and often are involved in hit and runs or property destruction. Only a few are caught, less are held, and none of this appears in the papers. I once had a conversation with a neighbor about this issue and she accused me of being unpatriotic. I kid you not.

A few years ago in a town nearby a ten year old was dragged to an alley and raped by three troops on leave or whatever-it’s-called. When her parent informed the police they were “taken into custody” as the community papers said. None of this appeared on TV news. The kid and her parent received threats in the mail (several supposedly from the troops themselves) and a brick was thrown through a window. I have no idea what happened to the troops.

How did this happen? Are we really do brainwashed that we support whatever they do simply because they’re troops, regardless of the mindless Obedience and occasional (Yes, OCCASIONAL) vile act? Are they so above everything? Are we really that stupid and/or mindless?

What needs to be done?

I can’t answer that question. I’m neither a theorist nor anyone else that could figure that out. I’m a “stupid commoner”, as >I< called myself. My reasoning, including what is in this collection, is probably flawed in some way.

My stupid commoner suggestion is the abolish the military entirely and give everyone a gun. Not very good right? Sue me. It’s not like anyone shall listen and try to apply that.

So what is ------ doing to solve these problems?

Not a damn thing, and I’ve got a good reason too. But that’s a totally different debate. Rest assured however that if invaders started breaching the shores of SeaBright I would grab a kitchen knife or bat and slay their goddamned asses whenever I can strike without notice. I would probably be killed, but at least I can say “I died for my country”.

~~~
So there we are. This collection will change over time to fix errors or if a can figure out how to explain something else.
So debate. And keep in mind any response with some variation of “Enlist and then talk” will be IGNORED.
the author is patently anti military. Look at the categories of types of those in the military and how he describes them.
1. The Elitist
2. The Fool
3. The Failure
4. The Warmonger
Now which one of these categories he provided are you in?
sully....he only provided 4 choices as categories of men and women that make up our military. And according to him, he has given this years of thought. Note his use of the term HATE and who he directed it at:
quote:
The Failure. These are the people I hate, beyond even the Elitist
quote:
The Warmonger
Most of the atrocity doers come from this group, since they have no regard for anyone not American anymore
Even his intial disclaimer is proof of my conclusion about this sperm-burping gutter scum:
quote:
Who the hell is this bastard? Can't we just ban him immediately? Why should we have to listen to this traitorous garbage?
A DISCLAIMER
I do NOT think that troops are vile demons spawned from hell to feed off the pain and suffering of children and drink off the fluids of their rape victims. The very fact that I wrote this signifies that I don’t.
Ummm, ok, so I guess this is so you can claim you voted to support the troops before you voted against them? Whatever. I'll just defend the military against your propaganda.
Funny. I've always been taught "Honor, Courage, Commitment" with the Navy...
The assumption that presidents only act in their own self-interests and consider nothing for the good of the country is just that, an assumption. You can't prove it, and I can't disprove it. It's no reason for you to go around and basically call servicemen baby-killers.
quote:
Keep in mind the military is under DIRECT command of the administration.
So? We gotta be under the direct command of somebody. You have to trust in somebody to make these descions.
quote:
Ok, so...first you were for us, then you were against us, now you're for us again (I think?). You must be John Kerry.
Hmmm, lets see if we can find where I fit in. Shall we?
My father did do twenty years in the Air Force, and for pretty much all of my life I've preferred crew cuts, although I only tried on my dad's cameo outfit once.
Am I an Elitist? Is my whole family?
2. The Fool. These people are, simply put, stupid or brainwashed. They have the shining image of the first set of military purpose in their minds when they join. They are so blinded by this image that they don’t notice that the real military is anything but the military they envision. They are in for a rude shock, but oops! No quitting now. The suits own you now.
One reason I did join was to defend my country, but it wasn't entirely ideals that inspired me.
Am I a Fool?
quote:
3. The Failure. These are the people I hate, beyond even the Elitist. These are often the poor or minorities, or even simple slackers, who have failed at life or see no prospects in the future. Hey, free healthcare rocks, and it's not like I'm particularly interested in worrying about where my college money is going to come from. On the other hand I'm not a minority. This guy doesn't think white people can be failures.
Am I a Failure?
quote:
4. The Warmonger. This forth group is actually a new addition, appearing after the terrorist attacks. This is not the “Bomb Baghdad!” group, those are often Elitists. Well, the first words that came out of my mouth when I saw the Towers come down was: I WANNA ENLIST AND KILL THOSE ****ING BASTARDS!" And I do think we were actually attacked by an actual enemy. Still, I don't support what happened at Abu Gharib.
Am I a Warmonger?
quote:
You cannot defend freedom.
This is not a debatable topic. One cannot defend, or attack one’s, Freedom any more then one can wage a war on Terror.
Show's how much you know. Roll Eyes
quote:
You always have freedom, thus you always have the right to choose. Many people think that because there are rules and laws saying you cannot do certain things you therefore CANNOT do such things. This is, of course, nonsense.
Yes, it is true that you could break the law in a Taliban state and say, start a music company underground, but most people won't do it because if they ever get caught by the government they're executed. Force often makes people less likely to do what they want. It's just the way it is.
Political freedom is also what makes us wealthy. Like I pointed out above, someone is less likely to start a music company if they're illegal, and that means ultimately less jobs and less encouragement of creativity which creates fewer products that can be sold to consumers. It's precisely because our markets our free and all bussniuess are encouraged is what gives you your wealth. The good men and women in the military that you’re trashing are the ones who defend that political freedom which gives you your wealth, so be sure to think about that the next time you’re trying to decide between a Mocha or Strawberry Late at Starbucks.
quote:
I once tossed a ball to someone I knew, and when he caught it I asked him “Why did you catch that?” He couldn’t think of a direct answer for some time. His action was automatic, even if he was unprepared and couldn’t catch it. One CANNOT think of not catching a ball.
The point of this is...?
The obvious answer of course would be to not touch it. Some people actually would touch it. However, this situation does not remove the choice to do the opposite of what you would prefer to do. Remember, you always have a choice.
I wouldn't have a choice if I happened to be on the world when that guy touched the piece of paper. This brings up another point, and that's the military defends your right not to get blown up like 3,000 Americans did on 9/11.
quote:
Sometimes they are told to do things that are truly vile, often on par with or worse then what the real enemy does, things that often go against the values of America.
Ok, now you do know that you have no subtainal proof that Donald Rumsfeld, or Bush, knew much less ordered what when on at Abu Grharib, right?
quote:
The Warmongers have no trouble doing these things. Often because they are the same people as the real enemy!
Ah yes, of course, the military is the real enemy. Kill them!
Thank God your right about this causing automatic backlash from pretty much anyone. This is because most Americans realize that we haven't actually done anything wrong in Iraq.
Uh, excuse me, but it seems like whenever a Marine shoots somebody or a Sailor rapes somebody it makes headlines in the national media, so i don't buy your "none of this makes the papers" whine.
Are Americans really that stupid or mindless to believe your statements Senator Kerry? Apparently not, since you lost the election.
Actually, I would say in everyway. Definitely in this collection.
Um, no, you can't just hand everyone a gun and expect them to ward off invaders. That really doesn't work; they're needs to be an organized resistance to invasions that is designed to understand what will, and what will not work in fighting them off. Mob resistance does not do that.
Please, for the sake the the reputation of these forums being pro-military, please ban this guy.
I would say this is nonsence. He is trying to apply negitive traits of many military members to ALL military members. The problem is, the military encourages bad apple behavior, to be crazy, take pay from people with a boot lace hanging out becasue there out of standards, thoes are the people that make the military sucky to be in but yet there behavior is allowed to continue. The military could be alot better if the cast system were restructured, the problem now is you have to put in 15-20 years as an officer before you are in a position to change anything significant, so the restructuring has to be at the civilian level (ie governor for national guard and congress for the active). They need civilian government consultants to go through and muck out the hardline members that have burroued themselfs in the system, but the problem is even deeper than that because there are beaurocrates that have burroed into the civilian sectors of government that help to perpetuate the circle of making unpopular policies without threat to there carrer or job. The people can only elect certian officials, but beaurocrats are lifers. The private sector gets refreshed much more frequent because it is alot harder to burrow yourself in and start creating unpopular policies.
