I understand that friendly fire would have got me, if you want to call it friendly, that is part of the reason I say dishonor runs deep in the military, military hardliners such as yourself and cavscout justify there dishonorable actions so they can sleep at night (ie shooting there own men in the back because they dont like them). I dont believe in completeing your enlistment if you feel your unable to perform the basic functions of a soldier. The whole waaa sniff sniff bit is a way to minimize complaints of the deep rooted dishonorable military system. What would you have done if your son was an anti military anti war consiencious objector, would you disown him and cut off your relationship with him, how you would react in that situation determines what kind of a person you are. I agree that I made a mistake when I joined, I was in AFROTC for 2 years and hated it, I thought national guard was suppost to be more like a state ran milita when in fact its just a draft pool for the active duty. There is so much deception and lies in the military its almost laughable to associate honor and integrity with the military. Dont get me wrong there are honorable and upstanding members of the military but there are an equal number if not many more that are quite the opposite. I have also spent some time reading the UCMJ, and military members talk hard and haze yada yada but dueling is against UCMJ, so not to hard core I guess, drills just want to scream and yell and intimidate 18-26 yr olds (I guess it makes them feel powerfull) but if there was a chance they could get killed when they wanted to start some nonsence I think the hardliner mentality would not be so hard core anymore.

I have never heard so much B. S. from cry baby individual in all my life! What you are trying to do at this forum is to justified your stupid actions by coming up with lame excuses by blaming how bad Basic Training is and yes, how fu*k up the military treated you!!! Let me say this Bub! No institution, not even the military is going to be perfect by anyone’s standards or imagination! The military like any other institution, company, or corporation, are run by imperfect human beings! So what are you going to do when you applied for job and that Company has imperfect Managers and the job starts becoming stress full? Are you going to quit and give up? All you have shown me that you are a pathetic loser who wants attention on this forum. Well you succeed moron and I hope you are happy because far as I am concern you have shown me that you cannot be trusted to watch my back when the lead and incoming is coming down upon me and my fellow band of brothers! So don’t go away mad or should I said crying….just goooo away from this forum and let real Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors have a adult conversation on today’s current events!

Wow you couldent address one point in all I wrote. The military is F'ed up way beyond any company I have worked with. I have had people at work act like someone in the military and I ask them if they are prior military after they get done raising there voice or whatever, I think they got a little chuckle after I left. That however does not change the fact that I am the engineer, also I am not inindated with that crap/drivle endlessly like the military likes to do, people act professional where I work 95% of the time, in the military its like 5% of the time. I know about currant events all to well its just that I have an opinion about them that you dont like, you sound like a typical army sgt, if your opinion is different and I dont like it then f you and shut up im the sgt (and of course you have to bit your toung for the lts and take it out on the privates, am I getting warm). Companies dont work like that, you ought to know better than to even say that unless you have never seen a day outside the army. People have to act like human beings to get anything significantly intelectual done.

I agree people are human and are not perfect but the military creates an enviornment for someone with a little bit of power make others lives miserable, thats not the case in the civilian world, becasue at a job you can quit, and if it is a hostile work enviornment that is a good reason to quite.

Its one thing to take fire from the enemy its a whole other issue to take it from your own side.

Geez, Louise!!

I have repeatso on my ' ignore' list, but even with that I can hear the constant repetitive buzz of the same old, same old.. "woe is me, they treated me so bad I bloated up and mentally collapsed from it" rant..

I'm surprised he isn't languishing on some tropical beach spending the reams of money he won in suing the US Military for cruel and unsual punishment and mental anguish - what? no lawyer would take the case? everyone he told his story to laughed him out of the bar?

From the description of his ordeal, you think he was treated to the same ' horrendous and aberrant ' methods used to extract information from the ' unlawful combatants ' at Gitmo!!

As I've posted here before, I have a daughter who puts FNG recruits through their ' wake up calls ' and, while its the Canuck army, where we are less Hollywood than the US, she doesn't put up with wimps when making them rappel off cliff faces, swim rivers in full gear or eat bugs for breakfast..and, while she has to slip the occasional " please ' and 'thank you ' into the orders when barking you ' moronic sh*t-faced a**hole!..eat that maggot and bark sandwich, now!.. [please ] what do you think this is the Sunday sewing circle?'

Bottom line is always.. anyone who enters into/signs on for the military is sure to know [ unless mentally deficient ] what the purpose armed service is/will be and that a level of phyiscal and mental ability must be developed to withstand privations, duress, combat and realize the imperative that they may bne called upon to kill someone else in defence of their nation's stated goals.

don't want that..don't join..simple!

but, as renutso has shown here in his innumerable posts.. his brain never made the conection and he couldn't get past the ' join and we'll train you to fly planes free ' come on..

as for the point of this original thread.. the military, in whatever guise, branch or country, will use whatever means to bring its soldiers, sailors and air force up to a standard of efficiency and ability to carry out the stated tasks.. if ' moderating ' or ' alterating ' the ' delivery ' of training and information proves that better troops come out the end, it will change.. but.. putting the fear into the men/women to perform on instinct and with a determination to prove themselves, will always trump ' asking nicely '..

its conditioning and developing a mind-set to combat.

or, as redundo says.. ' brainwashing ' ..which, in my book, ain't always a bad thing.. too bad they didn't wash, rinse and repreat with you know who..

[ then again, we wouldn't have a resident nutbar to rant about and laugh at.. ]

So if the military wants hardliners why is dueling against the UCMJ? Its a simple question, I think dueling is about as hard core as it gets.

For those of you who think that being yelled at by idiots prepares you for war, come on, be serious. There is no comparison between war, and doing pushups while a retarded gorilla (or someone who is paid to imitate one) yells stupid things at you.

For the one guy who actually took the screaming goofballs seriously, get a life man. Basic Training teaches you to:

1. Tune people out when you don't like what they are saying.
2. Keep your head down and not attract attention.
3. Not have any respect for the idiots in charge, but realize at the same time that you DO have to do what they say no matter how mindless they are.

All of these are important things to learn to make it through your enlistment, but prepare you for war? Come on, it's a retarded multi-week hazing/initiation.

Saw one of your posts here in another thread stating that you have no military experience. Now, unless I grossly misread that post, you don't seem to have any experience to speak of concerning the military in general or basic training in particular. I would request, since this is the case, that you not comment on things you know nothing about. Watching Full Metal Jacket is not the same thing as actually going through boot camp.

learn something. The "idiots" in charge are demanding nothing they haven't handled and BTDT themselves.

If you can't handle the stress they induce you cannot handle a combat environment. In that sense, I believe "hazing" has a place in any case. And I'm just a dumb civie her myself.

I'm a former Correctional Officer, what I went through was more of a police academy, but our primary instructor was a former marine that thought he was all kinds of bad ass. (Maybe he was, but I wasn't impressed one way or another).

SO I haven't done the real thing, but I'm familiar with the concept and I do have similar experience, if a very watered down version.

You apparently didn't notice where I told pearso to get a life.

I know full well that DI's are in superhuman shape and have to go through "Super Boot Camp" to get that job.

Hey, I'm just a guy who has opinions and watches alot of the Military channel, but I've seen how American DI's conduct themselves as opposed to the Brits, for instance, and I see no reason why you can't train soldiers and act like a sane professional soldier with a little bit of dignity.

I mentally equate screaming and cursing and acting like a jackass with unprofessionalism and lack of discipline. I think authority commands respect without throwing temper tantrums like a three year old.

No, no one has any excuse to be scarred for life by it. My position is that it is silly, not dangerous or immoral or particularly damaging to anyone.

Ok, we should start appointing kind, gentle fags as drill sergeants from now on. They'll definitely prepare the soldiers for tough combat, with lots of exploding shells and sputtering machinegun bullets being fired at them.

yep, what a nice, disciplined force we would have then. Roll Eyes

We have what is considered one of the best military forces in the world and our training is not up to your standards Mr. Allison?

Maybe if you had ever been shot at and given orders by someone who was sending you in harms way you might understand that there is a point to the way things are done. You do what you are told.

I know several correctional officers and have instructed them on effective take-down methods and there was no reason to act anything like the military.

hey guy's....Clay has the right, just like everyone else...to his own opinions. His credability went up a few notches with his comment back to our resident troll.

Besides, those that have served and at least made it though bootcamp and on into the real world military, generally have nothing but fond memories of bootcamp. We all know that boot builds charactor, and there is always room for improvement in any training environment, but I for one, wouldn't trade my experiences in boot for anything. (Not saying I wouldn't really enjoy meeting up with that little sob Sgt Pepe at somepoint before I have taps played over me)
