I was in the 494th Trans Co. from 76-78. Had chance a to visit the base last year. Found the area where our old wooden barrecks were is now just a open field. The only thing that seemed the same was the swimming pools, the one by Artillery (which I was a Life Guard at in 76).
Went for lunch at the Rod and Gun Club(alot nicer than when I was there)Visited the Museum.
And what about 41A and Clarksville what change there also. Riverside Dr, the Waterworks where we went Disco Dancing. The building is still there. The Mac D's at 41A and Riverside brought back some good mems. Had alot of good times there was good to see the old place again. Anyone stationed there over the years drop aline we may have walked some of the same ground.

I was there 61-64, E/1/502. Memorable brawl in Club Bastogne with the 327th, even though it only served 3.2 beer at the time. We had cinderblock barracks on Airborne Drive. "Birdcage" where we used to keep the Marines. Clarksville and Hoptown and the drunken sprint down 41A to make bedcheck after blowing the payroll in Nashville. That damn bedcheck killed more troopers than average firefight in Nam. PT with alcohol fumes rising, bunker full of kingsnakes, filet of kingsnake with "Texas Red" hotsauce, Mae West on a nightjump, Westmoreland was CG. - dunno why I miss it - but I do. Big Grin

I was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY from April, 1973 to September, 1974, my unit at the time CSC/2/327TH INF "NO SLACK". "Nothing better than PT than more PT", you be in the best shape of your life.
