Do you anyone know how it's like in the finance corps, 44c, wuteva? Would anyone from that unit get deployed to doing some combat job or would they get deployed as a desk job? Do you be getting deployed at all? (yes 2 many questions at once)

These days, everyone gets deployed. People still haveta get paid even in the theater of operations.

So people in finance would be in Iraq sending money to people that accidently got their homes blown up? Would be in combat too?

You are not going to be kicking in any doors but traveling from point A to point B can turn into a battle itself. And you will be traveling.
By the way I heard rumors that the Army is phasing out the Finance branch and opting for private contractors. |

Being a private contractor working directly with military personal would be fun, though, I would probably be fired quickly becasue some commanders are so full of themselves they think they are going to take God's spot when they die.

Hmmmm, being a contractor has built in protections for both the govt and the company that holds the contract. In the contract, everything is laid out, so that all the contractor has to do is ensure that he or she is fullfilling the contractual obligations to the letter. The govt holds the same responsibility. Generally they provide oversight of the contract itself. If services requested aren't in the contract vehicle itself, then it doesn't happen. Commanders know this and seldom make out of scope requests or fly off the deep end at contractors.

That is good to know, so when im a los alamos scientist I dont have to worry about military personel flying off the handle because I have a lasa fare personality and believe it to be sacreligious to use the word sir or mam, I instead prefer "hey, whats up" or "hows it going", so the sgt or officer will bite there toung. Its to bad they dont treat there own people with mutual respect, but I guess thats why they call them grunts.

As a contractor, I'm not required to address military memebers by anything but thier rank. I do find it is easier and makes them feel better if I do address each of tham as 'Sir" or 'Maam'
Its called basic people skills. Act proffessionaly, and you generally get treated as a proffessional. So if I were a los alamos scientist and I addressed an officer as hey whats up man, he would probably chew my ass even as a high level DOE scientist? Its all about casual, no one wants to be in a high tension work enviornment, that leads to heart attacks and other physical and mental problems

Your in a super highlevel "need military experence" field gunny you should run into one sooner or later. Or even a Sandia Labs scientist.

I've met some. They usually have too much class and enough social skills NOT to "be casual". We call each other "sir", "Mister" (or, in my case, I addressed them as "doctor" for those who rate it). Wanna know if a "high-level" scientist chews ass or dresses down other people? Ask the secretary. Yes, they do occassionaly berate those they consider "underlings", although I've never seen them "chew" at each other. They're PEOPLE. Just like everyone else and they live on this earth....unlike rppearso.

I dont mind calling someone Dr. if its in hard science or math, I know what goes into a PhD in physics, etc. Its the captian in the army who has a degree in basket weaving and went and got hazed for a few months in OCS and im suppost to have as much respect for that as a 8-10 year heavily academic achivment. Or calling someone sir just because there male and work with me, thats poppy cock

In your case, rrpearso.. you might earn some street cred if you just were respectful of anyone who could ' rite Engrish gooder than U '...
I can't believe a purported university grad hasn't got a basic grasp of standard English usage..you got your degrees in a corn flakes box when attending ' speshull klass' ? and don't tell me you're just too lazy to use spell check..that speaks to a whole other ' attitude '.. but, hey.. why be serious about life, it isn't permanent Float like a Lepidoptera, Sting like a Hymenoptera |

Thats like questioning a scientists PhD because he doesnt use correct fork for a salad at a fancy dinner. If im writing a formal report for what ever reason I will check it and have someone else check it etc, if you think im going to do that on a forum your dreaming, maybe if the particular forum had a quick spell check option I could just click I would probably use it.

Also rocketeer do you realize that by rebuking the general message in most of my posts you are defending the governments degredation of the military members quality of life. Its almost like a steel working telling the union to stuff it, we (the workers) want reduced pay and worse treatment because were hard.
