The SF has certain physical, mental, and intelligence requirements the need to be in place before they will agree to train you. Look them up and try to have the skills before you join.

I'm a college Jr. in a non-tech degree. I'm interested in aviation and MI, but my ultimate interest in the army is the Rangers and Green Berets. Is it possible to go through OCS, go to Ranger school, air assault, and pathfinder school, serve time in aviation or MI and eventually volunteer for SF?

hmmmm, didn't I just respond to a post where you were dedicated to being a zoomie? Now you wanna play in the dirt too? What's next? Skipper of a boomer?

You need to decide where you want to spend the next half decade or so...on the ground with the sane people, or in the air with the not-so sane people? Or in the water growing webbed feet?

What I'm dedicated to is spending my career as an officer keeping Old Glory flying free, in whatever branch will give me half a chance. I'd like the AF best. If they won't have me, I'd like to be in the army, and SF is how I'd like to serve there.

I'm single, but can anyone tell me how tough SF life is on families?

ok. my advice, stay single for as long as possible. yer money will go further, and you'll have less distractions.

If you do decide to bring a wife into play, you better make sure up front she can handle it and everything. A good military wife is very difficult to find. The right military wife is next to impossible to find. Just any woman won't do. Just remember this one thing.....the wife can make or break your career. Snot-lickers ain't too much of a problem, you can train them, women on the other hand are hardly trainable.
