Hello all. I go in tomorrow for my APFT. I am in decent shape, but I have a couple concerns. I haven't seriously ran in over 12 years. I have been running every day for a week now and can't get my 2 mile time below 20 minutes.

My pushups and situps are fine, I am hitting about 40-45 pushups and 35-40 situps. My questions is: if I score higher on the pushups and situps, does that help my running score out?

BTW, I am 28. I fit in the height/weight/Body fat categories no problem. I have just let myself get mildly out of shape.

TIA

No, each is graded seperately. Good luck. You don't smoke do you?

eyes...newport sitting in the ashtray.....

trying to quit. I thought smoking would be a big deal, but then when I went to the recruiting office, all of the guys there smoked.

So what happens if I dont meet the requirement for the running part? This is all preliminary. I have a good month before I can legally join up.

BTW, my recruiter called off today. So it looks like I am going to have another week to train up.

Sounds like your cardio needs work. Swim, cycle, run, or the Oliptical machine. All are great. 40min of cardio min a day. As for the cancer sticks, one word, Copenhagen. Good luck and get some.

for sure my cardio needs work. I spent the last 7 years of my life working 12 hour days in retail. I kind of thought that being on my feet that much meant that I was in decent shape cardio wise....I guess not.

I just found out that I was only supposed to take some form of written test today, not the APFT. Do I need to be joined up before I can take it?

I guess the Army has paperwork to do before they can do the paperwork. Does it get better as you get deeper in the enrollment process?

this is the one way that they ensure you memorize your part number.
