Does anyone know anything the Army changing orders for soldiers mobilized from the IRR? I know the Army can change orders to meet its needs, but I'm trying to get a sense of how frequently the two following things happen: 1)soldier has orders indicating he/she is assigned to a specific unit, but gets assigned to a different unit upon arriving at the mobilization site, OR 2)soldier joins a unit already in-country and is re-assigned to another unit until his/her REFRAD date when the first unit returns to the States. Again, I know the Army can do what it wants, I'm just trying to get an idea if either of these is rare or common. So if you have any knowledge/experience here, I appreciate it. Thanks

Welcome to the site. Hopefully one or more of our resident Army mules will pony up with a suitable response. Anything I say will be pure conjecture seeing as I'm on the Marine Corps side of things. It really depends on what you do and what your unit is up to. If your entire unit is called up, chances are they want the entire unit to deploy together. If you're in a support type job, and just certain elements are being activated....well, you're probably going anywhere and be split up. If you're called up as an individual augmentee....good chance you're going to be shoved wherever needed.
Combat units are rarely split up. Units activated "en masse" are rarely split up. That's about as much as I can tell you with my limited exposure to the Army Reserve. So, I too, hope you can get a better answer....... |

Best thing to do is look in AR-135-91 That should explain every thing you need to know about IRR callups. Hope it help you.

Welcome to the Army we all love and know. This has been going on since 1775.
