Hey all,
I just heard a few days ago from my parents about something that happened to my brother. Right now he is in Infantry school and his unit were allowed to go off base or something and ended up at a hotel. Well a bunch of the guys, not my brother because he doesnt drink, ended up drinking. I dont know what started it off but one of my brother friends got beat unconscious by some of the other guys in his unit. My brother did what I feel is awesome and carried his friend on his shoulders to the hospital. I dont know how far it was but that doesnt matter. Now my brother has to go to court against the guys who did the beating. I wanted to share that story with everyone because I am immensely proud of him. I do have a few questions. My parents mentioned that my brother was getting some slak from some of the other guys in his unit. I guess they feel he ratted the other guys out. Now my questions are as follow: 1) is an attitude like the other guys in my brothers unit typical of the Army? the whole "I am my brother keeper, no matter what" 2) Is my brother likely to be awarded a medal? There was a guy in the AF who saved a few lives in a car accident and was awarded a medal. Thanks for any info. |

No medal will be adwarded for this act of kindness, in other words he should not have been there in the first place. IMH none of them should have been there.

Your brother did a good thing in helping out a team mate. As or his testifying in a hearing over the matter, those that beat up a fellow Soldier will have to take whatever comes out of the investigation. He's doing the right thing and that is commendable. He won't get any medals, but he will gain respect from the others in his team that weren't involved.
