Talk to his unit chain of command, tho they may not tell you anything. First you need to know what they are charging him with, then have him get with the legal officer if needed. But I fear that you must wait to see what comes down the pike to take any helpful actions.

I can tell you from first hand experience with the military. Like in the civilian world, one can be accused of just about anything. What counts is what is proven in a court of law. Some of these courts are held at the Commanding Officer Level (NJP), providing the accused grants permission to have the CO pass judgement.
Every Soldier, Sailor, Airman and Marine has the right to trial by court martial. That is the route to take when one is being unjustly accused of a crime. If one is innocent, that is the direction they needed to go. Lawyers are then assigned to represent the individuals best interests. Lawyers are not involved when Non-Judicial Punishment cases appear befroe a Commanding Officer. Many take the NJP route because they trust the CO will be fair. On the flip side, many do take the court martial route when they believe they aren't going to get a fair shake. He is f**ed, they control everything you do at basic and infantry AIT from when you go to the bathroom to when you can pick your nose so good luck getting time to work with a JAG and put together a case and get enough sleep to think clearly about what is going on. He is totally f***ed. The gunny is correct I just filled in the reality, not to mention he will probably be in basic for 3 to 4 times the normal length and need therapy when he gets out, that the army might pay for after a years worth of paper work.

They need to hear the truth and since everyone here wanted to candy coat it I felt the need to interject reality. Why would you want to candy coat and blow smoke when you ought to know better. BTW when you flame and swear it just denigrates your credibility. The only thing the parents can do it contact there congressional representation and pray to God they pull him from training entirely and send him home and process an ELS the same day, basicly if his dad is golfing buddies with a congressman he will probably be ok, no one questions a congressional inquiry otherwise the base commanders butt will be in the wringer. But aside from that he is f***ed. BTW I have been there and seen this stuff happen as you also have but im willing to tell it like it is and you are not.

Round Ronald is not interested in helping these people – he only has his rant and inability to articulate a simple idea or understand a different point of view.

Ok dude, whatever. If it goes all the way to a court martial he can be royally f**ked. The only clean way out of this is congressional representation or straight up going AWOL any other method is not going to be quick and definetly not going to be painless, everything the military does is slow when it comes to people getting out sometime other than there ETS date and slow and basic training enviornment = pain. This is not a complicated situation. Sure you will have some legal rights and be able to talk to a JAG yada yada yada but at the end of the day you are sitting in a dingy barracks with no astetics or carpet on lock down. Why cant you guys call a spade a spade. Oh yea and your transportation will be in the back of a flat bed in basic training gear with rain drizzling down the edges not an SUV with a nice pair of BDU's

Someone comes to this board for help. The situation is serious and the best you do is interfere with the vast experience that can give them help. DESPICABLE IS WHAT YOU ARE. Do not try to educate me now like you try with others, I am a Major in the United States Army with 21 years in, so I know for a fact that these NCO's on this board are vastly your superior as MEN, as people, and in the compassion they have for others. Shut the **** up failed soldier, REAL MEN are trying to help. |

They did not give any real advice, seek JAG, ok then what sit in the barracks for 12 months, you cant pull the wool over my eyes because I have been there, I have seen the people that fall between the cracks. If you call grown men that haze 18 year olds "real men" then I guess I would not fall into that catagory. Maybe someone here knows how to get out of that enviornment and deal with the issue from afar where you can collect your thoughts and get peaceful sleep and seek your discharge however long it may take from home but I have not heard it yet, I know what the enviornment is like and the advice they are giving is BS, that shitty ass enviornment drives some people to suicide.
BTW what is your degree in? |

He is not a failed soldier, he never made it pass Basic. This means he is a civilian who tried out the military couldn't deal with it so they let him go back home. You see to be a failed Soldier you would have to at least graduate and report to your first unit. I still don't understand why he hasn't been banned. Freedom of speech sure why not, but he hasn't contributed anything positive in any of his post. I personally don't come here to hear negative BS about the guys who defend America. |
