Recently, I decided to join the army reserves, In looking for jobs I stumbled across this job
Health Care Specialist (68w) So are these the guys who we see on movies attending to the wounded and trying to get them to a hospital? Do they do anything after that?

I was thinking about becomeing one, but I have several things holding me back, so....

1. Will I be giving shots? (I have somehting of a phobia from my younger days with a crap nurse and a IV shot.)

2. Will being colorblind block me from becoming one? (Im red-green 80%)

Ill ask my recruiter anyway but I was hoping to talk with an actual HCS or someone who works with them on a regular basis.

probably shouldn't go into that field if you have a known phobia with needles.

Now-adays, pills come in all colors. Think 80% red-green color blindness wouldn't have negative connotations to the patient?

You are Red-Green color blind? I am sorry to be the one to tell you, but any position in any branch will be severely limited. To be a 91W/68W-Health Care Specialist, you must have normal color vision, a Physical Profile code of 111121, have no aversion to blood, and no criminal charges relating to/or of sexual misconduct, nor have any drug charges or noted use of drugs.(Even experimentally.)

Yes, they are Medics. Combat medics, clinic medics, hospital medics. They do it all. They give shots, take blood, prep and dress wounds, etc. They are no different than a nurse and orderly in duties performed.

I would say, ask you Reserve Recruiter to check the WebRequest system and see whats available in the local Reserve units, that you qualify for. Thats the best advice, I can give.
