Just wondering if anyone can give me information on how to get this medal added to my DD214. I served in Korea from Dec. 92 to Nov. 93, before this medal existed. My state, Pennsylvania, offers a license plate for those who have served there. They require a copy of my DD214 saying I recieved the medal.

I think I may have answered my own question. I guess I need to submit a DD215 to make a correction to my DD214?

cavscout? can you address this one?
was this medal retroactive to include the dates you served? According to the regulations; the KDSM period of eligibility is July 28, 1954, to a future date to be determined by the secretary of defense.

It is retroactive. My only understanding is multiple tours that were awarded the Overseas Service Ribbon and devices for Korea, can be converted into the KDSM. Similar to the OIF campaign medal and the GWOT-E medal. With two tours, you can wear both ribbons. With one, you must choose which one, and file appropriately to wear either.
