out of curiosty, does anyone know if you can use you own scope to qualify on the m16/m4? there has to be a reg that covers this, but i couldnt find it yet. i did read up in FM 3-22.9 but it didnt say much of anything regarding using a privately owned scope.

ive always heard the old "if you can qualify with it, you can have it" thing, but not sure how much truth there is to that. i know recently the army is giving out M68 sights and other types of sights/scopes, but im just curious if you can use your own as opposed to the issued stuff.

i assume its up to the CDR or range OIC, but just checking, hope maybe you guys have heard of something like this before.
