get one guy thats consistently screwing up and the entire platoon pays the price, pretty soon the platoon creates an opportunity to educate the screwup. One of the methods that you find so abhorent is yes, a blanket party. Its a wake up call to the bonehead. Getting smacked around with a piece of soap in a sock is much more effective than breaking bones with several D cell batteries in a sock. Besides, if you can't perform at the same level as what your team mates can, what good are you to them? What you liken to BS and fraternity shows just how little you know about the military.

Fraternities are for boys. Kids right out of high school. Even those that are college seniors are still 'boys' in my book. CavScout is absolutely correct in his assessment, a Bachelors degree does not equate to the term professional. All that piece of paper does is perhaps get a foot in the door for a job interview. It generaly goes downhill from there. I shred more resumes than I read.

Washing out of the military is probably the best thing in the world to happen to you. Enjoy life and make something of yourself.

Wow CavScout that was nicly put, its too bad that all NCO's dont think like you do. I guess thats why we have so few losses in iraq compared to vietnam. I just wish that I dident have to wait until I was in basic to realize that I was weak, my only motivation for passing was not to be recycled. I passed the PT test on an injured ancle just so I could get the hell out of dodge then collect VA benifits later. Its alot easier to get out when im back at my guard unit as opposed to a training base.

well in 3 more years I will be able to test for my "professional" engineering licence (PE) then maybe I will get alot more respect. There should be no need for a blanket party, they should just be discharged. Lets say you have this blanket party now I get more VA benifits for mental anguish and maybe a few other injurys in there for being incompetant and now they are getting like 30-40% disability benifits.

Im all for the military doing what it needs to do, but thoes that cant hack it should be discharged not hazed, it sounds like you have ill will to the weak.

rppearso: Seriously, you are painting a terrible picture. Gunny just pointed it out. To get out of Dodge and collect VA benefits?? So, you want to fleece American Soldier's and taxpayers out of money you think you are deserving of? Anyone who served in the mainstream military is automatically more deserving. They weren't ELS'd. (Entry Level Separated)
A Professional license, and you'll get more respect? Again, therein lies the root of the problem. A piece of paper does not warrant respect. Respect is earned, not obtained. Going to school is not earning anything, you essentially buy it. Hence, tuiton.
We followed, we learned, we trained, we executed flawlessly, we became respected leaders in our field; for being soundly proficient in tactics and techniques. Not for getting some license, or degree, or certificate.
Nothing Follows.
CavScout Out.
