Wow, I can't believe I missed this MOS the first go around. Forget signal, this is the MOS for me. Sounds interesting, unique, and very relevant. Would like to hear from some actual 74d's out there. Tell me about your experience. Have read all the other posts I could find with 74d in the text. Also, I am going in under National Guard, but would like the opportunity to deploy. Will I have a good chance with this MOS and/or can I volunteer to deploy? One more question...any thoughts on how this MOS would transfer to civilian sector?
Thanks again for your responses and all other posts. Very good stuff! |

I was a 54b back in the 80`s. (54b is now 74d)
We had to suck copious amounts of cs during AIT. By the time we were done, we were tossing the cs grenades back at the cadre. You do get used to the stuff. Being it was peace time when I was in most of our job was just being a glorified carwash. It was fun though and I did feel like we could handle whatever situation we were thrown into. I`m not sure about what it`s like now, but I didn`t find anything in the civilian sector back then. A good plan violently executed today is better than a perfect plan executed tomorrow. George S.
