Large majority of pranks and such are simply that, testing your ability to bond. Messing with the FNG is an age old process that will never go away. I think you'll find that it is almost as prevelant even in the civilian world, and with the military there is simply more opportunity for it to occur.

One think most don't consider, everyone is labeled FNG at the start, and that generally only lasts until the next new guy checks in and he assumes the label FNG.

I'm going through that at work right now. On the job six months. The person that was right above me quit actually fierd, and I am the next in line for request on shift change,(work three days and two graves a week. Hell on family life) We have eight new highers on the way because of the new tower. but I was greeted as a know it all. I am still considerd so. I don't believe in the civilen job market you can determin how much expereince one has based on his opions in converasion. They do not say anything about my performance, because I kick ass.I just keep my mouth shut now.
