Why not join the French Foreign Legion? I'm sure it could be a great alternate to the US Army.

Why not join the French Army and do peacekeeping missions with NATO (probably will dissolve) to what will eventually be a EU Peacekeeping Force?

Fox Mulder, the reason is simple : I don't wanna stay in France anymore, I need to move on, and i've always wanted to live in USA. Furthermore, I don't want to join the army to do a military career, I just want to serve the Country in which I want to spend the rest of my life, and Army will be a great experience for me. And then, if I'd have the US. citizenship, I'll do a job in which I can help people, like firefighter or police officer.
