SUBJECT: Active First Program (AFP)
1. Purpose. The Active First Program (AFP) is a pilot initiative that was proposed to allow members that enlist in the reserve component - ARMY NATIONAL GUARD, and serve a period of service on active duty first. The ARNG was authorized to establish the AFP as a pilot initiative. The period of the pilot is from August 2007 to August 2013. 2. Concept of the Program. The program is designed to offer select ARNG recruits an opportunity to serve a tour in the Active Army after they complete their initial entry training (IET). In concept, the AFP has three phases and these phases are set forth below: (The above info is part of a draft, that will allow the Army National Guard to enlist Active Army recruits). People have always been able to go from guard to active they are just offering money now becasue the military is barely meeting its active duty numbers. If they can make it work more power to them but the reason for difficult recruiting has nothing to do with guard vs active it has to do with being in iraq for 24 month deployments being away from family friends and there life and the militay is sweeping it under the rug well I have news for you the citezenry isent. Anyways this is a sad little ploy to try to sucker people.

Its Official...
The Army National Guard has a New Enlistment Option called Active First. When you join the Army National Guard under Active First, you begin your service with a period of Active Duty — aka, full-time military service. That not only means full-time Soldier's pay, but a bonus of up $65,000, depending on your length of commitment. You'll train in one or more of 50 exciting careers that prepare you for lucrative civilian positions. You'll travel across the U.S. or overseas. You'll have life-changing experiences and adventures. You'll become more confident than you ever thought possible. When your Active Duty commitment is over, you'll return to standard part-time Guard service with your local unit. At that point, you'll be free to pursue a college education with the Guard's extensive education benefits. http://1800goguard.com/activefirst or in NYC goto: http://www.armyguardrecruiting.com This message has been edited.
