Hi, I am currently a certified (not licensed, certified by an accredited school) electrician who is thinking about joining the army and using electrician in as my MOS, what I am wondering is will the time spent in the army count towards my apprenticeship, as a 4 contract in the army in experience will give me a little over 5 years in the field, which by New York requirments will give me enough to get a journeyman license

The journeyman electrician certification board of New York should be able to answer that question for you. I would start there before you start down this road.

Listen to the gunny. Call the local union if you cannot find one.
