Hi all. I am going to be shipping out for basic in 8 days and I am wanting to get a leg up on marching. Where can I get info on the basic movements? I know i will learn in basic but I want to go in with a general idea of what Im doing. Any help is appreciated.

You would have to do it in formation for it to have any real effect. Believe me, the Drills are experts at this stuff and just love to teach it.

Trust me, you don't want to try this at home with the expectation that your efforts will get recognized! Eeker

They WILL teach you what you need to know. Just keep yer eyes and ears open and you will learn it. It won't take long that marching and drills become second nature.

Congrats on joining up!

Ahh yes 'Close Order Drill'...

You can work on the 'About Face' to get that toe placement and balance of weight on the ball of your Right Foot...in execution with both heals coming together... However when in Formation don't anticipate the commands.

For a leg up...try this link:

drill

quote:
As a group of soldiers stood in formation at an Army Base, the Drill Sergeant said, "All right! All you idiots fall out."

As the rest of the squad wandered away, one soldier remained at attention.

The Drill Instructor walked over until he was eye-to-eye with him, and then raised a single eyebrow. The soldier smiled and said, "Sure was a lot of 'em, huh, sir?"
