I am an Iraq vet currently doing a college research project on veterans and their medical care. I am looking for any veterans who are willing to share their experiences with the VA or military medical system or ideas as to ideas for future changes that could help veterans. I am not looking to bash the system but simply look at what works and what doesn’t. In my project I will maintain withhold all names and locations for confidentiality purposes, and feel free to e-mail me if you do not feel comfortable posting your information on the message board. Some of the questions I am looking to answer are(feel free to choose not to answer any question):

1. Do you use the VA or military facility for your health care needs?

2. What is the greatest advantage of using a military or Facility?


3. Given a choice, would you choose a VA Facility or a civilian facility?

4. Have you had any problems obtaining care?

5. What is your greatest barrier to receiving care?

6. Has any of the care you have received been insufficient?

7. What is the average wait time to schedule a clinic appointment at your clinic? Specialist?

8. If you are not an Iraq/Afghanistan Vet, has your wait time for you appointments increased, decreased or stayed the same?

9. If you are receiving services from the VA/military and they are insufficient what do you do?

10. What percentage of your healthcare costs are not covered by the VA/military

11. Any other experiences or thoughts, or Ideas about the VA that you are willing to share

Then if you answered these questions just some general background questions.

13. How long did you serve?


14. Did you serve in peacetime or war? Which war?

15. Do you have a service connected disability?

16. How long did it take to process the claim


17. Are you still on active or reserve duty?
