Just a funny story that I thought I would share about myself when I was back in basic in 2001. During an afternoon class sessions my DI asked for a volunteer to get a couple things for him. I did not even really listen to what he wanted but I raised my hand anyway and he picked me! Imagine that! Well, he asked me to get him a box of grid squares and the keys to the parade field. Well, of course I learned that neither of those existed shortly there after. I looked for about twenty minutes, asking anyone I could find and I finally came across and officer that looked friendly so I asked him if he could assist me. He looked at me and said "son, your DI is messin with you". "Grid squares are on a map so you cant get a box of them, its not possible". "Also, the parade field has no gate so there will not be keys to it". Well, I felt so stupid! Needless to say. The officer told me to go back and tell the DI what he said. I returned to my DI and told him what the officer said and my DI just stood there for a minute looked up and said "Good job Gearhart, have a sticker and sit down". I still felt stupid but at least it all ended without anyone getting smoked!

I'm surprised the DI didn't give you some "BA eleven-hundred novembers" (BA1100Ns) for your efforts.

You know TOW, those can come with Sierra Tango Rings (ST Rings), right?

Let's see I got sent to go feed the Gamma Goat. Used to send people out for flightline, slings for the 105, and BFAs for the .45, and up to admin for their ID ten T Cards (ID 10T). Yeah, fun times.

Ha, hadn't heard of some of those. I remember a couple of Gamma Goats sitting at the Motor Pool.

I remember sending people to admin for their "RAD Package". I can't remember what RAD stood for (I think it was "Admin Release"), but it was the admin discharge they were handing out just after they passed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

HA, remembered one more. Go out to supply for your Sierra Tango 1 (ST1). They'd come back with a rock.

Those are good ones,I remember sending for a can of liquid squelch.

YES! I remember liquid squelch, I think it came in a spray as well! And once the Corpsman found that his stretcher was too small for one of our bigger Marines and he ordered me to get a "stretcher stretcher"...I didn't fall for it.

Here's a good one:

Send a young Marine PVT out to the range or FTX site to find the NCOIC or gunny and tell him you need a stack of 0311's (Marine MOS designator for rifleman). Then sit back and LYAO as the gunny wrestles him to the ground and any nearby grunts pile on top of him!
