You HAVE to have a green card. Without it you cant join.

As for Special Forces etc, I have no idea.

Last I heard....Special Forces is part of the same US military that requires a Green Card.

While the US military has need of new recruits, why should we invest in a recruit whose loyalties are in question? The reason I say this is your statement of 'I want to serve as long as I can for the first country that lets me in'.

Why should we train foreigners in the ways of warfighting with the possiblity that should the opportunity arise at some point, they will return to thier homeland and all that we invested is lost and possibly compromised.

The green card and that individual becoming a citizen of our country by swearing full allegiance to our nation is the only way you can do what you are wanting to do.

I am a British Citizen...

I will probably be joining the British Army, or even better the Royal Marines...

however, joining the US Military is also an option for me. Is there any arrangement for British citizens, and if not how do we gain a green card.

Hey there,
I'am from Germany and I'am interested in serving the US Forces as well.
Here in Germany the Army (called Bundeswehr) really has less money - for example, when my bro went to Kabul, Afghanistan they had desertclothes, but no desert west... that's only one of many examples how this acutally sucks. We also have less kevlar then you American guys have.

So, all in all I acutally have an idea what military is like (as I said, my brother is serving in Afghanistan, my 2nd brother is departing next month).
Because my brother will leave the Bundeswehr in several months after his mission, he allready had offerings from the so called "Black Pool Soldiers" (I don't really remember the exact name... but it's a US [mercenary?!] force which is in Iraq.

Does anybody know something about them?
Because of the Iraq war the US Forces are in want of soldiers and I heard that you can apply as a foreigner there. I also heard that you will become a US citizen after 2 years of serving.

All those points I only HEARD of, I don't know if they are correct, please tell me =)

Oh.. I forgot to tell: It's like only 60% of those Black Pool guys come home alive... don't know if that could help Wink

If the candidate passes two vetting processes they he or she should be fine in the military. Citizenship and security clearance processes do a deep dive into the background of each candidate.

Well, it is possible to slip through the cracks and get in as an illegal immigrant, it's been done. Needless to say, if you are found out you're booted. If you want to join the best military in the world, just come here, wait in line like everybody else, become a United States citizen, and sign up. I'd hope joining the military isn't the only reason you'd want to become a US citizen, though.
