Right now I am in a 2 year electronics school. I have 12 months left before I graduate. I will owe about $14,000. I will turn 24 this May and I made only $12,000 in 2007 and I am not involved in any extra curricular activies. I want to have a bachelors BEFORE I join the AF. I have 3 questions.

1. Is there any way the air force will pay for the $14,000 I have already accumulated in student loans?

2. Will the air force pay for my remaining 2 years of school that I need? And if a scholarship program for rotc is the only way, then do you think I would qualify?

3. What is the benefit of rotc over a regular college graduate?

Thanks

Question number 1: no
Question number 2: no
Question number 3: ROTC gives you a small taste of what life is like in the military period.

The military exists to fight and win wars, they are not a tuition assistance program or job training center, if you happen to get either of thoes 2 things it is a side effect. The lobby room talk of military buildings is not how much assistance for this or that but more how the hell to stay out of the "sand box" or how your going to the "sand box"wheather you like it or not because your in the military now boy, tuition assistance and job training are after thoughts. These things are only focused on during recruitment to entice you in, once your in benni talk stops and you then see the military for what it really is. My advice is to finish your BS degree and talk to an officer recruiter and tell him (dont ask) exactly what you want and they will either need your skills and give you what you deserve or tell you to take a hike, if you dont get in the military you can go get a civilian job for twice the pay. The military (and government in general) are very good at deception (military TV commercials being the biggest deceptions of all) they have had roughly 100 years to profect it, they show all the cool hardware and benifits programs of which you rarely see during actual service unless you are takin in under special programs (fighter pilot, special forces etc). Gunny will provide a superficial argument, but the core truths of the federal government and the military can not be debated, they do not care about you, your well being or the constitution, the constitution has become so convoluded with supreme court presidences that some of it has lost its ture meaning, the original intent was never to have standing armys and enlistment contracts could not exceed 2 years (and there were not back door drafts, or "inactive reserves time" where you could be called back for up to 8 years! I agree that we need our national assest to effectivly defend ourselves but we dont need over a million military members to maintain thoes national assests (air craft carriers, fighters, etc). Every war since WW1 has been a sham, watch Zietgeist, we did not need to be involved in any of thoes wars.

Wow what a post patoloco, why do you even post anything at all or participate on forums if you have nothing intellectually stimulating to say and the posts where you and scully and aufluncker post anything other than retardo or whatever its dry ass internal military procedure, and not even the good military procedures, you guys quote military procedures on how to wipe your own ass. BTW I finally got my seperation papers IN THE MAIL, with an uncharacterized RE-3 the fields where I was suppost to sign just said soldier unavalible for signature (of course they had all my contact info and no one ever called me to come in to sign anything but oh well). I think half of our military is disgruntled and wanting to get out so who can blame me, especially the national guard.

If this war continues through one more presidency we wont have a national guard left, no one will join and thoes who have been in a short while will get out thoes in for a long time will take early retirement and the only ones left will be the poor schmucks stuck at about 10 yrs of service unless they have a really good civilian job and could give 2 shits about there retirement but it will be hard on thoes 10 yr guys because they have put so much time in to just walk away from free money at the end of 20 yrs but its better than spending 24 months in some crap hole of the world. You will still get the crazys who join active duty army and marines but with the national guard close to none existant and reserves tapped out this nation will be forced into a draft, can we say Vietnam, I dont care about battle field details this war is no different from Vietnam. I will be close to 30 by the time this happens so im not to worried about being drafted.

One might ask the same of you. You only travel down a myopic path of misinformed dullness. Believe me, you will never have an original thought and are not qualified to judge other peoples writing abilities. Stop sniffing the glue young man!

rppearso...congratulations on getting your seperation papers. RE-3 no less. This means that should you ever actually wake up from your twinkie induced coma and desire to actively participate in humanity, you can do so by applying for a waiver and join the service of your choice!

Yes, you did it again. Please go away and live in your small minded world. Intellectual is just another word you have to look up to spell correctly.

I will probably die of a heart attack from lack of excersize (high chloresterol, blood pressure etc). I hate excersizing so much. I am also going on 30 yrs old so I will be largly ineligable for anything I would be interested in doing in the military and my basic training will eventually expire and I wont go through that again or OCS now that I know what its all about all I would be doing is trading a chloresteral induced heart attack for a stress induced heart attack (of course they dont let you join if you have medical problems anyways) regardless of your RE code.

If you have any spare time for part time or full time during or between semesters on your way to the BS...

You could volunteer for 'ArmeriCorps'
and get some experience and
some help with your student loans
in the form of a forbearance or deferment
while in service.

Check out the 'vista' program:

http://www.americorps.org/about/programs/vista.asp

http://www.americorps.org/about/programs/vista_benefits.asp

They also offer 'A $4,725 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or $1,200 post-service stipend'

You can use the Segal Award to help pay your existing Student Loans or help with your tuition.

The ROTC is a fine look at some aspects of Military life. You can get valuable training
...keep fit and get experience with stuff like
navigation skills and rifle marksmanship.

The U.S. Air Force ROTC offers
scholarships...

http://www.afrotc.com/scholarships/incolschol/incolProgram.php

http://www.afrotc.com/

After all that...you could 'GO PRO'

Question number 1: No, The AF gets the cream of the crop they don't have cool programs like the other branches.
Question number 2: The AF will not give you any money what so ever unless your are completing a Medical doctor degree or JAG
Question number 3: ROTC guarantee's a slot for officer. You must have a slot to join ROTC.

Tip 1:Guard and reserve may have special programs to help pay off your student loans.
Tip 2: if your seriously considering service. Get a bigger student loan and come in as an officer. E-1 PAY 12,000 A YEAR 0-1 PAY NEARLY 50,000 A YEAR.

Why do you even post on a MILITARY forum if you're just gonna talk shit?

I would tend to think that he got the RE3 discharge for being a royal pain in the ASS.
