Hello all,
I DEP'ed into the Navy in October and I'm shipping to RTC on April 5, 2007. When I was 12 or so, I had cut the tip of my right index finger and I needed 16 stitches to sew it back up. I didn't lose any feeling in my finger and the scar is barely noticeable. However, when I was at MEPS, I forgot to tell them about this. My question is, do you think I should tell them, or do you think I could get away with letting it go? Will it show up when they investigate for a security clearance? I'm just nervous about this. I'm worried that if I tell my recruiter about it, he's going to blow it off, and if I say anything at MEPS that it will delay my shipping or prevent me from shipping at all. I went to this link http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/intmedstandards/blextremities.htm and according to that my cut isn't considered disqualifying... I'm just worried... |

Wayne,
I think your safe and you shouldn't worry about this. The reason they ask these types of questions in the first place is they want to ensure you have all of your pieces parts when coming into the military. example: missing spleen, kidney, left nut.... Oh yeah, once your in and through boot, you can tell them about the scar and they will draw a little line on a picture in yer health record and label it as identifying marks......
What are you hoping to do once you graduate boot? SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL I haven't got a clue how to change people, but I am keeping a long list of prospective candidates just in case I figure it out! |

My contract says I'm going to Aerographer's Mate 'A' School in Biloxi Mississippi, so I guess that's my plan right now. Then from there who knows.

If you get a chance to be onboard a ship, make sure you ask the Chief to show you the 'sea-bat'! SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL I haven't got a clue how to change people, but I am keeping a long list of prospective candidates just in case I figure it out! |

yeah buddy! Me and Naval bases go way back. One of my favorite pastimes when coming back from the Chief's club was to comshaw a military vehicle, (the bigger the better) and look for one of those big ass boat anchors they have situated around the base, and move it to a new location.

Continuing thread jack.......
Now I feel like an unimaginative puss. All we ever did was paint them red and gold. I bow to you, sir. |

Got kicked off of Sasabo Japan Naval Base because the anchor I towed off used to be the one in front of the Admirals house, I also borrowed a military police truck to move it as well. The Admiral was rightly pissed, but I think he saw the humor in it cuz I still kept my stripes

They don't leave stuff to steal around many Army bases....or whatever was there to steal is long since "relocated."

Over here I have to waste my time trying to find the "soldiers" who steal our equipment and use it in Armed robberies.
Of course, all these "soldiers" were terrorists before the new government gave them cushy positions in the armed forces. Well, they steal trucks, assault rifles, and even stole a bloody tank. And politics prevents me from arresting the bastards, or just shooting them straight away (as I'd prefer doing). Of course, we also had our times, taking two lightly-armoured vehicles, and having a race through the town where the barracks were situated. Pizza is like sex - if it's good, it's very good; if it's bad, it's still quite good. |
