Once again I am being the annoying teenager and asking questions over and over and over again, but hey, someones gotta keep you guys on your toes. Smiler This time I was wondering if anyone has ever been through the proccess of being a westpoint graduate or if they had actually gone through the entire four years and graduated as an officer. I was hoping someone could answer some of my questions. For one I was wondering what you studied and if you felt like it benifited you in the long run. I was also curious about what the entire army college thing is about. Is it like you are in boot camp except you go to classes for whatever you are majoring in. And finally, how are the sports in in Westpoint. Are they super competitive, are they worth it?

I wasn't a WP but took ROTC which means normal studies like any other student and in your spare time ROTC, sometimes at night and summercamp (when other students are on vacation). My experience in the Army was that WPs don't have an automatic line to stardom. They don't have the stars already tatooed on their shoulder when they come in as butter bars. As life goes on in the Army and you rise in rank, the WP becomes more and more irrelevant. It is you and your ideas and professionalism that counts. I was in the Army when they had so called RIFs (Reduction in Force, firing excess officers and NCOs). I survived 3 RIFs, but knew WPs who didn't. It is true however, that WPs support other WPs, but they do it surreptitiously. Sort of like in a bond of brothers.

Count it the greatest sin to prefer life to honor, and for the sake of living to lose what makes it worth living.
