Hi I was in the Air Force for a very short period between dec 01 and mar 03. I got into trouble a few times for having late bills. I also had my mother in law calling my first sgt all the time about paying child support so I got into trouble a few times for that. I also was late for work one day because of partying late the night before and my supervisor sent a fellow airman to come get me and I had to drive to base and I was still intoxicated due to only sleeping for maybe 4 or 5 hours and to make a long story short I went from an airman to an airman basic and was sent to (I don't remember the exact name for it) Air Force lock up I guess. It was like boot camp all over again for 30 days. When I got back from this my first sgt sat down with me and asked if I wanted to stay in or get out and I told him at the time I wanted out. I realize now that I made a huge mistake and really should have stayed in and made up for my mistakes. Anyways, my question is what would it take for me to get back into the military with these circumstances in mind?

Seperation code JKA is Pattern of discreditable behavior with civil or military authorities. The ONLY RE Code allowed for Seperation Code JKA is RE-4. Ineligible for reenlistment. Your only option is to apply for Discharge Review Board to get your discharge adjusted upwards. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. I'm looking at my dd214 right now and it says, separation code JKA and Reentry code 2B...
So what do you mean the only reentry code for JKA is 4? It says here 2B... |

My bust, I used a Navy reference, should have used the AIr Force one.
Applicant was discharged because of a pattern of misconduct with a reentry code of 2B and a separation code of JKA. Reentry code 2B is applied in those cases where the member is separated with a general or under-other-than-honorable-conditions (UOTHC) discharge. The separation code is directly related to the reason and authority for his separation. I located a case where an indivdual was successful under similar circumstances in changing his Sep and RE codes so that he could at least attempt to re-enlist in another branch of service. Here is a link to that document:Discharge Review Board case file Perhaps this will provide some direction and hope for you. Mind you , my initial advice still stands, you have to apply to discharge review board and present your case. Who knows, you might get lucky.
