I am sitting here and wondering how to vent so this is the place. I am in the process of enlisting and now going the waiver route. I was honest and told my recruiter about an incident 7/07 when I drank for the first time puked and got pneumonia. all the recoerd were faxed and we started a waiver . I have no criminal record . graduating in 2 weeks and have not drank since. SCARED!!! My dad is in the ANG for 20 years and he knows the recruiter well so I think that helped. They called it alchol abuse and thats the reason for the waiver. She is gone on vacation so I cant talk to her any insight?

Alcohol problems will be exasperated in the military because you will be under an extrodinary amount of stress this is why substance abuse is such an issue in the miltiary, some military people are over worked to there breaking point but there is no out for them they are just told to suck it up which is not useful for someone who is burning out so you turn to some substance or prostitution so you have a sliver of something in your life that feels good in contrast to the pain of your daily life. If you have a really good wife it may help mitigate this situation but if you are deployed for 24 months it wont matter. I know alot of military people and alot of people are jacked up from there miltiary service, the human body and human mind are not ment to take such abuse for prolonged periods.
