Hi, I am currently 15, almost 16 and im headed into the junior year of my high school year. i have a 3.5 gpa. probaly going to graduate and i already know i can get into the local college, University of Arizona. With this in mind what do i need to work on or look into for the Navy seals im just really confused and I want to do some thing really really big with my life. so basically my question is, what am i getting my self into?
I have looked and read many things on the internet and I want to know with some one who was either there or knows what they are talking about. Also my biggest question is, what happens if i fail. I also would like to fly would it still be a possiblity and would the "naval seal drop out" follow me? thank you for all your help. i posted this in navy and then realized i should have posted it here, sorry if it causes and problems. |

Skelieman, just grab your feet and walk to the NAVY ROTC office on your future (as you claim) Campus at the UofA. I know they will tell you all the ropes. I know that because I've been there myself, not as a student but as a visitor. To answer your question if you fail: Seals are a special breed of people. But not only in determination, but also because they are lucky in the sense that they are extremely healthy (genes or whatever). Not all humans are that healthy. But that doesn't mean that the rest of us are unfit. If that would be so, there wouldn't be any military, or jet pilots, or combat fighters. So, to console you if you fail in seals, the military world is full of opportunities for you to show your potential. Also keep in mind, that seals is a thing that lasts only a few years. After a certain age, even seals need to pass the buck...

Before you go through seal training you will have to attend some kind of "A" school and then you will be given what is called a rating. A rating is just your vocation in the Navy. If you don't make it through seal training you will have your rating to fall back on and will be given orders to a sea or shore command that has a need for someone with your rate/rank. Don't worry about your reputation if you don't make it through seal training. Just go where the Navy sends you and prove you worth at your new duty station. Good luck!
