Hi my name is Steve. I have been trying to join the Military for the past year now and I had just received a Military Disqualification Statement. I have a clean record with the authorities but the reason I was disqualified is due to a neck surgery. I had a cervical fusion done in the c3-c4 area of my neck. Thats where they take the disk out, replace it with a piece of your own bone and fuse it together. Now the reason stated for my disqualification is that the Military does not think me possible to carry out some of their training or missions, or that I will be out for periods of time due to my neck. Now I have been cleared by my surgeon for active duty. The Military can give me any challenge and I will pass it without any limitations or problems. Is there any way I can get passed the Disqualification paper and try to fight their decision because the reasons why I am disqualified does not apply to me. I am more physically and mentally fit then most recruits going in to basic. The Military is the only thing I wanted to do. I am in 12th grade, on two swim teams, 120 push ups in 2 minutes, 100 situps in a minute and a half, 15 pullups and my neck is fine. I have heard of a Physical Evaluation Board but I do not know if that is for soldiers already in the military? If anyone has any advice for me I would very much appreciate it. THANKS

Steve
If you have received a medical disqualification letter, the letter should have a statement about what you have to do to apply for a re-visit or waiver.

The military is essentially protecting both you and itself in the qualification process.

I haven't got a clue how to change people, but I am keeping a long list of prospective candidates just in case I figure it out!
