Im considering joining the military but right now im in the middle of a cycle of a perfectly legal, over the counter, anabolic substance. This stuff is like a synthetic testosterone. Would this disqualify me from being able to serve? Is it ok as long as it is legal?

To be honest, no one in here can realistically answer that question. The place to get that answered is to 1) visit a recruiter of the branch of service you are interested in 2) go through the MEPS process. 3) disclose everything.

Why do you need anabolic substance? Is it for a medical condition? Just wonder why if not needed why anyone would use this junk. Just my .02

Never knew there were over the counter steroids, including synthetic testoserone.

I use them because I love to lift weights and the resulting gains in lean mass are incredible. Im talking about 15-18 lbs of muscle in 30-60 days and you generally only lose about 5 lbs of it after the cycle. If they are taken correctly there arent any noticeable side effects. *(I just want to note that im not trying convince anyone to use this stuff... always educate before you medicate)* But i think steroids is the term used to describe the illegal substances while the legal ones are usually just called anabolics. Real synthetic testosterone is illegal. But this stuff goes into your body as one chemical (im not a scientist so correct me if im wrong) and then your body either uses it to raise your test levels or it converts to test. If the steroid tests given by the military check for actual chemicals (like dianabol or nandrolone decanote) I would pass because Ive never taken illegal steroids before. But, if my hormone levels were tested its possible that they would conclude that Im on the "juice".

understand your reasoning. Point here though. Chemically increasing body mass is common today, but if you are joining the military, you need to stop now. You cannot continue that regime while training to be in the military. You certainly can't take that stuff during boot camp. Once you are successfully through with training and are assigned a duty station, working through the fitness programs, you may be able to resume, but I wouldn't count on it.
Companies can offer military discounts on anything, doesn't mean the military condones the use of or purchase of it by military members. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. The Marines are at war, America is at the mall. |
