Is it possible while in the military to get a tattoo on your neck while in active duty then get kicked out? Or a tattoo on the hand even? I just thought of that.... not like I am thinking of ways getting out. I just wonder if it has happened.

Ironkettle-you need to go to Naval Regulation to find out about Tattoos.I do know if you get a tattoo and you have medical problems with it they can Court Martial you if they so desire that has been a regulation for many years.

You can also be court martialed for apathy, dropping your weapon, having a tone a superiour finds disagreable, being late to work (regardless of circumstance), non service related injurys that prevent you from returning to duty (even if the injury was not the result of an illegal activity), basicly as soon as you slip up and show that you are a human being you CAN get slammed. Most people can only maintain this shurade for so long, my buddy is in AF SF and is now potentially having ulsers, I guess they could court martial him for that as well since he only got quarters for 10 days and the ulser prevents him from "doing his utmost" so if something "went down" and he did not respond effectivly he could get 5 years. You are at the mercy of your commanders and you have no rights thats the bottem line. You can google up anything on the UCMJ and they have just about every aspect of being a human being covered with a stiff maximum penalty.
