Hello everyone!

After graduating from Highschool this may i am considering enlisting into the Army.Ever since i was in the 7th grade i made my mind up to go into the military( Alot of my family members served). My only issue is i have smoked weed twice a little over a year and a half ago. I want to be honest but have been told to lie to MEPS. I've heard mixed stories of people saying to lie and others who say tell the truth and some who admitted even got in. I never plan to do it again, it was stupid. I want to either go in Infantry or as an 15S which only states experimental use of Marijuana after age 18 is disqualifying. I have no criminal record and no medical problems that i'm aware of. I know i have to take my ASVAB and all that. But should i go ahead and admit to it? I know both of those MOS require no security clearance but still.

Disclose up front. This will not disqualify you. Besides, they regularly screen for drugs during the MEPS onboarding, and routinely during your enlistment. Speak to the recruiter, he or she should tell you the same thing.

Wait until you take the asvab to determine which job you enlist for. You might be surprised at what they can offer you right out of the gate.

Dear Lord
So far today, God, I've done alright
I haven't gossiped
I haven't lost my temper
I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or even over-indulgent.
I'm really glad about that.

But in the next few minutes, God,
I'm going to get out of bed,
AND from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot of your help.

AMEN.....

Take the Gunny's advice on both counts. You may better serve your country in artillery, supply/logistics or as a truck driver. See what you have potential for and you might find a new skill that serves you your entire life.

You'll find that honesty and integrity will hold you in good stead throughout your life and career in the military.

Besides, who the heck wants to maintain a lie for the rest of thier life?

I'll just back up what TheGunny said. This won't DQ you. Be up front.

I understand, it's just i was told MEPS will look for ways to DQ you and always told to lie to him so i wanted to be that if i was honest i'd still have a chance.

At MEPS they will ask several questions about your past to attempt to find reasons to look at you closer (not necessarily to boot you, but to make sure there is noting in your past that will bite them and your recruiter in the ass further down the line). If this is your only issue, then it is not a problem. Be honest. It is the best policy in this case.
