I went to Marine boot in august of 2007 and was separated in September. I was given RE-3P for my discharge. I'm determined to get in again; I had a lot of growing up to do in these 2 years required separation. I've been to the doc, he cleared me and even suggested that I return to service.
I've been talking to recruiters and I have progress with the SSgt’s but as soon as it gets to the gunny they tell me I'm ineligible. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to talk to a recruiter, or any other info that would help my cause? |

jls88, unfortunately for you things have changed in the meantime in the area of recruitment. The economy is down und thus the volunteers are way up. The Mil can take their pick. The only intelligent thing I can suggest is to go to another recruiter, tell him your story honestly and that you have changed and grown, up without hiding things (he will find out anyway) and see what he says.

Mastertanker's right...again. You don't mention any details on the assignment of RE-3P, but that is generally assigned due to a physical disability. The doctors that have to clear you are military docs, not civilian.

Thanks, the only problem of living in a metro area is that everybody has the same gunny. I heard the Corps exceeded their recruiting goal for the next 3 years. Im not gonna let that be a reason to keep me out, do you know if there are any restrictions on talking to recruiters out of your area? (ie county, city, etc...)

Those restrictions you asked about: Most recruiters use zip codes as reference points on who they can and can't talk to or consider. Processing someone outside of their zone is looked upon as poaching or trolling where they have no business trolling.
But to really get to the meat of the question...there is no restriction on who you choose to speak to, just the unwritten code they adhere to. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. The Marines are at war, America is at the mall. |
