Ok, I have a lot of info/questions in here so this post is not for the feint at heart.

I am prior service 98H. (Morse Interceptor before they phased it out). I was discharged during AIT for "anxiety" AKA, i was an idiot and homesick...please dont write me off yet...read on. lol.

I lost my Top Secret clearance blah blah blah...thats not what is important. I have done my research and spoken with recruiters and have now obtained a "fit for duty" evaluation and its a go. So, i can re-enlist in any job i want...as long as it doesnt require...you guessed it, a clearance. I've been told that after I enlist and become MOSQ that stipulation goes away and i can get a clearance once again. I want to go ranger or SF be cause i know I meet the qualifications for it other than the clearance(lowest ASVAB score was GT with a 126, 86 overall, and DLAB of 113) and its always been my dream but im starting out in the national guard and by doing so, skipping BCT AND Warrior training. This i feel could be bad.

Im looking at starting out as a 19D because from what my recruiter is saying it is "just like the infantry plus some extra land nav and scouting techniques." He also implied that i would be more prepared and still able to go ranger as 19D because of the extra training. That doesn't seem to add up with me. Logic says my best option would be 11B. So that is my first question...which is a better choice? Not just in preparation for ranger school but overall.

Now...as far as far as why i feel skipping BCT would be bad...frankly, im out of shape. I went through basic, and i know how hard it was...and how physically fit I was when i graduated...i dont imagine that coming straight off the street in my shape and jumping into the middle of AIT with some high-speed crazys would work to my benefit in any job i choose, let alone a combat arms position. So any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the long winded post, and thank you in advance for the advice!

-Jonathan
