I am strongly considering joining the military and would like some advice. My story in brief: Recently graduated college with a 3.7gpa, have not taken asvab but plan to score high, am interested in NAVY or ARMY, as a corpsman preferably but want to serve my country however I can, my Grandfather served in Korea and his brother in WWII, have worked at a fortune 500 company and decided I want to do something more with my life than sit behind a desk. I am very patriotic and my family has a history of public/military service. Any advice in any capacity is much appreciated. I am very skeptical of what the recruiters will tell me. Thank you all in advance and especially to those who have served. I have tremendous respect for you.

Welcome JK86, all I can tell you is to be careful when you start you discussions with any recruiters, ensure you understand whay is going on and besure this is what you want to do with your life. Also make sure you get what you want to enlist for on paper.

Throwing in my pitch as well, if you have a college degree, don't forget to look into officer programs that are available to you as well. Don't stop with just enlisted recruiters. Look at what you think will give you the greatests opportunities, and the most of what you desire, and don't get trapped with the dangling carrot.
