Here is the story.
I was in the Air Force for 3 years with top secret clearance. Got popped for smoking reefer. I got a general under honorable discharege. Part of my discharge is that I cannot rejoin the Airforce. What do you think my chances are of joining another branch? |

For the Army, it will depend on when it happened, and what has transpired since; your RE code and your SPD code on Member Form 4 of your DD214. "Brave Rifles! Veterans! You have been baptized in Fire and Blood, and come out Steel!" |

CavScout, Sounds like you know what you're talking about, I would go see a recruiter but I really dont want to be harrassed at the moment.
It happened approx. 2 years ago and have gone to drug counseling etc. I will go check what my codes are... |

Unfortunately, I am a recruiter. So, I deal with this stuff everyday. Its a surprisingly simple process; although simple doesn't mean quick. We still are the Federal Government....and we are slower than molasses in January.

By my regualtions, which is what I have to use in regards to your separation. JKK was drug use. You squeaked out with JKN, Misconduct (Minor Infractions). You do incur a mandatory 24 month waiting period from the date of discharge. You will require a waiver because it was a General Under Honorable. Other than that, we punch through the system and see what HQ, Commanding General, USAREC says. If its good, you can join. Its a case by case basis, so no guarantees.

Unfortunately, you are disqualified from OCS programs, given your characterization of discharge, as an enlistment option. Now, that does not prohibit you from going OCS once you are in.

Dont drink the kool aid, if you cant get it in writing before you join then just kick back drink a beer and light a joint and enjoy being a civilian. Once you join if its not in writing its a total crap shoot.

Here we go again, huh rppearso? Stop hijacking threads.
Before you start putting your foot in your mouth more regularly than before; let the adults talk. Isn't there a snack cake and some discussion for National Guard fat kid deserters somewhere for you? Stop being the national poster boy for involuntary euthanasia. "Brave Rifles! Veterans! You have been baptized in Fire and Blood, and come out Steel!" |

once again cavscout its all your opinion but I did not jack the thread, I am giving sound advice. But like I said long ago, as long as people keep signing canned contracts thats all the military will provide because they dont have to offer anything else.

Just try. You may have made a mistake once, you hopefully corrected it and stay clean.
It won't hurt to try to do what you want and maybe it will work out. Cavscout has the answers or at least knows where to look. With the way things are shaping up today in the military, and you keep you noise clean, show them you really want this, you just may get by. Where's the coffee? |

I had to throw that in there to make it interesting because the only way you seem to know how to answer profound questions is to say thats the way it is shit for brains instead of making a resonable argument, if I dont want to fulfill a contract because its a sham then I shouldent have to. So I figured I would have fun with the post.

There wasn't any profound questions posed, just simple ones we answered. Ain't nothing profound about a guy getting popped for smoking pot and in later years wanting to make up for that mistake.
And if you look closely, none of us labeled him or answered with anything coming close to the term 'shit for brains' excepting what you wrote. You on the other hand, tell him to go smoke yet more pot. How do you ever expect to get taken seriously in here, when at every opportunity to rise up above all of your own past experiences, and possibly have a positive impact with someone in need of sound advice, you simply toss out a bunch of turds on the floor and kick back and chuckle about it when they step into it. rppearso, do you really think your qualified to give this gentleman advise?
He made a mistake and is grownup, mature enough to admit it. Now he wants to take his place in life again where he wants to be. Not screw up and blame the world for his shortcomings. Your really are too much. Where's the coffee? |
