I have a appointment with an Army recruiter tomorrow, but I am confused as to what I should tell him concerning my mental health. I was seen by a psychologist about 2 years ago and I went today to get a copy of the doctor's report. I was under the impression that I would have to disclose this report to the recruiter, but the doctor said no they cannot see it without your consent. Can the military see mental health records witout the patient's consent? If I don't tell the recruiter about seeing a psychologist, how would they know where to look for a record? I don't know what to do now. I do not want to lie and then get caught. but also, I would rather not tell the recruiter about this if I don't have to. Can anyone clear this up? Thank you.

Your Doctor is correct. You need to decide for yourself whether or not what you were being treated for is still some type of factor that would prevent or hinder your service. Are medications involved? If so, these must be disclosed. Is your previous condition something that will resurface requiring the military medical system to get involved? You are no doubt aware that certain mental conditions will prevent you from enlisting, but have you sought out which ones they are? You should be able to do this discretely via the internet. And even though you think you are over these issues, military living conditions and quality of life can very easily and quickly bring back mental health issues. Think about it, military life causes mental problems for people without a history that were once normal people.

Do you have data to back that comment up or is it just more of your troll dung?

remember, he's already announced he's claiming post tramatic stress disability due to his attendence at boot camp, and using this as justification for his awol status, and his honorable discharge via his hotmail account, so he can obtain a job at Los Alamos Nuclear Labs....
perhaps he can explain this statment: one can't have too much water in a nuclear reactor. I know what you are saying Gunny -- a drunken 14-year old seems to have more credibility.
