I have one thing in my past that is on my criminal record. In March of 1995 I was charged in Florida with soliciation to deliver cocaine. At that time it was a third-degree felony. I attempted to purchase from an undercover officer and was busted in a reverse sting. My sentence was adjudication withheld; I was not convicted. Over the years this has not come up during background checks for employment. I was hired by IBM in 2000 and had to get a background check for a security clearance. This never came up.

Please tell me I can get a waiver for this.

Who granted the security clearance? If you're working a DOD contract, well then....you're good.

Not an expert on these matters, you should ask a recruiter, but I don't think this is an issue-- it was a long time ago, and with no conviction on your record, should not be a problem.

Thanks for your response. I asked an Army Reserve recruiter. He said yes, I could get a waiver. Wow, what a relief!

Taking the ASVAB tomorrow. Hopefully I will be in basic before end of year at the young age of 41.
