There is nothing else I can think about doing more than serving my country. I am a military brat and I have lived the military life. I think and dream about joining the military. My problem is Iam a 24 year old female who has 2 children and with having children I have gotten fat every day I work out and eat small meals so I am hoping to join by my 25th birthday in feb. my question is what is the larget weight I can be to join (Lets just say Im about 100 over where I should be) any advice?

Check out the height and weight tables for your age, also body fat. I would lose the extra pounds if possible. I will tell you that it is not an easy battle, my last 10 years were hard for me but I did extra work and got thru. Good luck and work hard you will win and get what you want.

Why do you want to join the military, please dont put your family through this. Its still a good idea to drop the weight for your own heath.

I dont understand what i would be putting my family through. If I sit at home and never do anything with my life but be a fat stay at home mom I think that, that would hurt my family more. I know that it will be hard the first years my dad was in the army and I dont think that I had any memories of him till I turned about 9. Also I think a member of every family should fight for this country

Ignore this idiot, hell he washed out in basic, some of us consider him a troll, matter of fact use your ignore toggle for him. He really is an a$$clown. If this is what you want to do then go for it.

It would have been nice if all I was called was an a**clown when I was in the military. Why do you think a member of every family should serve? I never said you should sit at home and do nothing but the alternative to that is not joining the military. You could go to school, get a part time job you enjoy get a hobbie learn a foreign language do what ever you want but the bottom line is the military is beyond hard on families, "hard" is a drastic understatement and minimization that recruiters use to lure people in. And when/if things go south with your family dont expect the military to help you, your on your own. You know I really dont even need to interject my own opinion I should just start posting all the articles I find on the crap the military pulls on its own members.
This is just the flavor of the week, I can post articles like this every week (or even every other day), once you know whats going on and you see the writing on the wall its not hard to find the truth. The military does not care about you or your family so why do you feel the urge to serve, the military of the past may have but not todays military. They have phony programs set up to give you a warm and fuzzy but when you actually have to use them they are barely funded or functioning. The military is recruiting based off of the honor of those before them but once people wake up they will not be able to recruit and they will be forced to institute a draft and if they treat draftees crappy we will be no better than Russia and then whats the point of staying here IF that were to occur. Why dont you ask your recruiter about this article and see what kind of smoke he blows because once you sign they will just say you get what you signed and not a cent more because they DONT care, they just need to fill numbers. Also be very careful because people on this site like to take things WAY out of context, they may quote a sentence or 2 of what I said and make a few flames but they cant hold a candle to the over all point I make or the truth in the articles I post, its almost like clock work. I just hope you are smart enough to think about what you are doing with the additional information I give you. The commercials give a tingly feeling because you will be a hero and fly fighter planes and drive tanks .... yea whatever, they dont tell you that if your sunglasses are too fadish you can get in trouble or the base commander can make rules that are in direct opposition to state law for soldiers residing off base I can go on and on and on. http://electioncenter.military.com/2008/04/21st-century-gi.html?ESRC=dod.nl |

I think it's great you are wanting to do this. As my recruitor told me always make sure you join for the right reasons and not the wrong once. I have just resently signed up and got all the paper work in order. It has been a long road for me and it wasn't easy but finally got there. I have my first drill this weekend so it should be interesting. I have til Oct 15 before shipping out to Ft. Jackson for basic and then to Maryland for AIT |

It is your choice to serve in the armed services and the branch is also your choice, you and you alone will make the decision and you will do fine. Research everything you can find ask prior service members and active service members and then YOU will make the right decision that fits you. That said you can listen to the people that never made through or past basic training or you can listen to the ones that did. Your choice, choice wisely your future depends on it. Good luck know that we are here for you to pick our brains.

Is that all you can muster is to discredit my experence, I made it through basic thank you. I was in the guard for 2 years and I had enough. I will tell you the sides of the military that others will try to sweep under the rug. BTW your future does not depend on it, im not in anymore and im doing quite well. recruiters dont want to tell you about the freak outs in basic or the PTRP because thats bad for buisness.

For me it dont really matter if the army is the same or not we all still have a duty to our country if we are to live here. Also the more people who join, helps take stress off the other soldiers fighting I alon cant change it but I can set the example. Also you dont understand how close my family is we are "real" christains first off but honestly if my husband cant be there for me while I serve then more power to him but my children will always love me.I am not afraid to die for my (direspectful-liberal)country either life here on earth is short anyway. Overall my mind is made up I dream about joining all day and I have never taken advice anyway I have always had to learn from my own experiences good or bad. Im still concerned about my weight issue I have lost 15 lbs and two pant sizes since my first reply but Im ready to join like NOW!for someone who is 5'4" what is th

That is the only one I could find so I think that it is the standard for you while in, ask a recuriter to be sure but I think this is the only standard they have. Besides in basic they are gonna run you half to death so your weight should not be a problem if you meet the requirements to enlist. Good Luck

I am also a "real" christian, I dont see what joining the military has anything to do with your faith. Being in the military or being a veteran has nothing to do with you being a christian. In fact being in the military can actually wear down your christian walk because so many people in the military are extremely callous.
