Alright well before you all direct me to gosere.com, I want to say I've been there and plenty of other places. I've looked online a lot, but I wanted to get info from anyone who currently is a SST or is going/went through the school. Thanks, I have a lot of questions so I'll wait and see.

Much of the course material is classified. All graduates are sworn to secrecy on just about anything else about the course. Afraid you won't find much about it. The learning points can only be discovered/made when you don't know what's coming. And, no, you'll find nothing close to what it's like in GI Jane, another one of the all-time dumbass movies ever made.

Yeah, sadly it's hard to find info other than what might be expected. I'm not looking for exact course details or anything but more as in personal experience of it all. I was cruising on the military.com forums and they have a ton of info, but it seems only wannabes post in that thread now. I need some info from actual SST's and people going through it. I'd like to know what is expected of me and what little I can do to prepare if any.

I guess a little help won't hurt....Don't bring anything you don't want to lose. Buy a "disposable" toothbrush and pocket knife (they'll be taken away and probably lost, but you'll need them at first). LISTEN, they give you all the tools to be successful in the course, your job is to listen and use them at the appropriate time.

Other than that, there is no preparing you.....you just have to experience it yourself. It's a blast...on graduation day! Everything else pretty much sucks. It's one of the few courses I'm extremely glad I went through, and NEVER want to do it again.

Did any of them fall of the trick concerning a cache of goodies buried out in the area?

Sorry I rarely cruise these forums, anyways thanks patoloco for the info. To SULLY1, I guess I'm more of a country boy. Yes I know this job favors those "country boys" but I think it would be worth it to do this.

The job doesnt favor country-boys over city ones, its all about your personality. Are you someone who is likely to give up when facing great adversity and are you someone who cant pass one what you learn to others. That is what the job is, instructing others in the skills of surviving with minimal resources.

Commie look up the word SERE and you will understand the comment I just made a countryboy is raised with a lot more instincts.I went through SERE twice before I went to Vietnam and I knew how to survive because I was a hunter and outdoorsman people don't come with that instincts you learn those.

Sully1, you learn those abilities to survive at SERE school. A city boy can learn those just as well as a country boy. SERE school does not favour one over the other

Commie the countryboy comment was not ment to imply nothing more than it will be easier for a countryboy than a cityboy because of his background. Now my question is have you ever been though SERE.

No I havent been through SERE but the SERE instructors I worked with said that it is a common misconception that countryboys will find it easier than city boys.

A city boy can learn survival techniques just as well as a country boy.
