You sound competitive for the Academy to me. Just make sure when you're applying for nominations to the Academy, that you apply for a nomination from every source available to you. Also, make sure you can exceed the minimums on the PT stuff they make you do for the packet, because when you're in Colorado Springs, CO, you're a mile high, and it's harder to do physical work up there.

Good luck!

I believe your SAT english section is to low, you have to have a minimum of 600 in both sections. Of course they have changed the SAT in recent years and im sure all universities have shifted there requirements around but I know the SAT verbal is what kept me out. Im actually glad I did not get in after I found out what it is all about. Captain of a varsity sport will help ALOT but I dont know about soccer, when I called the academy they kept harping on foot ball players so if you were a quarter back or something the hint I was getting is they would waive everything else to get you in.

It looks like you are pretty competitive for a position. the 4.0 GPA is nice. Your reading might be a little low but you can always take the SAT again and they will tka eyour best scores, even if they are on different tests.

I dont know when rppearso applied but its sounds like things have changed ALOT. Sports are big here at the academy. Obviosly some sports are bigger than others, like football, but people are recuited from high school for almost every sport.

Like I said to your other post, the academy is looking for at the overall person. They want leaders of character and not just people who are super smart or super athletic. Things that show initiative, leadership, teamwork, followership are all going to help. Being smart is important because the academics here are tough and there is a lot of other stuff to occupy your time besides studying.

Just make sure to include everything in your application, even if it seems small. Let the application board decide if its important.

I applied in 99, I forgot about that you can mix sections of the SAT to make the best composite score at least that was the rule in 99.

For myself at least the congressional nomination was pretty easy to get, its like a 4 page application and can be found on your respective state representitive/senator website. I think it makes it easier when you are from a state where very few apply to get in. If you get thoes SAT verbal scores up you should be good to go assuming you dont have some medical condition you dont know about that they find when they inprocess you.
