Well, I'm pretty sure that all services play by the same rules regarding military flights. If the ejection seat gets armed, then anyone sitting in the armed seat needs to have a minimum of training on what one can expect when it goes off. I had to go through the entire gambit, just to hi-power the jets. Still have the seat qual card.

Yep im sure thats what the egress training was, I dont remember if I got a card, it was quite a while ago. I have flown in helicopters as well, and that was basicly just put your seat belt on and go.

Don't want you to get the idea that I am dissin you about the ride in the T-38. You were in the right place at the right time to be able to do that. Seat qual includes a seat shot in a simulated ejection sequence. It sounds like all they did with you was show you where the ejection handles were and told you not to touch them......

Yep thats pretty much it, and in the extremely remote chance we had to use them we were told what the procedure was, the pilot will call out 3 times and then you blow the canopy and pull the ejection, the T-38 has 2 seperate steps to eject since it was an older plane. Im looking forward to getting my pitts special, there is one for sale at the local airport so in a few years I can start doing more of what I love.

The Pitts is a great little plane. I've only seen them up close at airshows and such, but they really don't do much for me. Whatever spins yer prop works for me.

I would advise that before you lay a good sized chunk of cash down on a used one, that you have the owner provide you with main spar x-ray's first.

Thats a good idea because of the stresses of acrobatics, kinda like the equivalant to an inspector when buying a home. Flying is the only way to go, when im on the ground and see planes I always wish I were flying. That was another bummer of basic was all of the military air traffic and I was in a fox hole, thats almost enough to just stand up and get shot so you can go back to the states (assuming you were in combat)

Now....about them bases....
Hurburt Field is nice...except it's out in the middle of nowhere. FL is a good place to be though.

Guess every base I've been on is the same (USMC wise). Depends on what's OUTSIDE the base really, and what you like. Langley and Bolling are both awesome bases, I'm just not a East Coast guy, and hate being in DC. Bolling, while very nice, is crowded and has traffic from hell outside the gate. Never been to Davis Monthan here in Tucson, but to me, it's a pretty good base, because it's in Tucson and I love Tucson!

Yeah, the boneyard at DM is pretty sweet, plus Tucson is a cool town if you're young, single, and got a little money to burn. Cool

Stateside, i've been to FE Warren AFB, Nellis AFB, and Robbins AFB. To me, all were wonderful. It's not just the base, it's the region, and what your hobbies are. I prefered FE Warren out of all of them because of the country, wide open spaces, rodeos and yet close to two Universities so the partying was great! I have heard a lot of good stories from Kirtland AFB in NM however.
