Couple questions-
I would like to know how the security force unit compares to other jobs on the base? I was reading that they have one of the highest deployment rates in the AF? if so how long? also, wandering how the living areas are around there for raising a family? I have a BA in law enforcement...anything good to come out of that> -thanks |

Awenn,
Sorry, can't help ya bud. But I thought I'd give your topic a bump back up to the front and see if any of the AF guys can fly by and give you some info... |

The security forces career field is extremely hard to explain because there are multiple jobs we perform and every base is different. Overall there are two categories, Law enforcement and security. Law enforcement the name pretty much says it all. The security function is kinda complicated. You can do everything from flight line security, missile field security, Weapon storage facility security...... The hours are most of the time ridiculous. Not like the majority of the Air Forces 7:30-4:30. Deployment are more than likely. They can very from 6 month - 12 month. With the BA if you go enlisted you can come in as an E-3 or Airman First Class, which pretty much just means more pay. However if I were you I would look into commissioning. This is just a scratch of the surface. If you want a lot more information go to this forum and you will read a lot of opinions and information. But before you start another topic read the old ones.
