Not sure how to respond here. Your job is what you make of it. Just becuase your intial job in the IAr Force is assigned to security forces, does not mean you have to stay there for your entire career. At least your in. Make the best of it and go from there. Other opportunites will present themselves in due course.

Very true. I just wasnt sure why he would say that, like what could be so bad about it.

Have to ask him what he meant by that comment. Never know, perhaps he's had some experiences as a member of Air Force Security Forces?

The thing thats bad about security forces is that youre normally on a hard deployment cycle(6 months home, 6 months deployed), you can have 14 hour work days, and you do some of the unsavory details around the base. But i have some cop friends that enjoy their job. Like the gunny said, it's all what you make of it.

If you are in the security side of the house, the can be boring if you are stationed at the gate or on the flightline. Think of being stationed in ND, Greenland, etc. brrrrr. Guard towers and bunkers are boring too. LOL
If you are in the law enforcement side of the house, you get to write tickets, respond to domestic disputes and other things like a civilian police officer does. Of course you could cross train into another career field when the time comes too. "In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons." Herodotus |
