I am glad they stopped him without getting injured too bad.

That is a shame that this happened. I think that when this jerk had bit both of these hero's they should have beaten his butt with the ball bat it is not like he did not deserve it.

That's the only thing that would have gotten me in trouble if I would have been one of the 2 Airmen. I most likely would have pounded him 3 or 4 times.

Dito on all that. . .but I'd go for a different approach. I would give the bat to his battered girl friend and let her go to town.

One sunny day in Detroit, me and my man Johnny were cruising down Woodward Ave. I saw this guy with a knife beating the crap out of this female.

I told Johnny to stop the car. We jumped out and after a few wolf tickets I managed to get the guy in a joint lock and he dropped the knife. I had the guy on the ground and I felt a sharp pain across my back.

The woman was yelling "Get up off my man!" The bitch had picked up the knife and cut me long and deep. Johnny punched her out and took the knife away.

After I got out of emergency with 27 stiches Johnny told me I was a dumb azz.

"Well, why you stop the fuggin' car then?" I said, just a tad pizzed off.

"Thought we was just gonna watch," he said.

I was later informed by some cops that that was their normal routine, happend about once or twice a month. He never would cut her and she seemed to enjoy the beatdown.

Go figure.

It is a sad but true fact that in some 'domestic' disputes when someone tries to 'break it up' then BOTH parties will vent their anger on him/her. This is true even if a woman is being badly beaten, if someone goes after her bf/partner/husband whatever, sometimes she will literally join in physically defending him. Works both ways with both genders. Doesn't happen all the time that way, but Thud's story is a prime example. Also another reason why it is so hard to make cases like that stick because oftentimes the abused person will not press charges, which is why in many states, the abused person is not even given the option. Sad thing is, oftentimes, it is the abused that will bail the abuser out. Without professional help and/or a long incarceration it can be a vicious cycle, and the violence can escalate until it is life threatening.

a few years ago .. I was with the family in Ocean City, MD .. we were on the boardwalk and I heard this "Whap" sound .. then I hear the crowd gasp .. and turned and about 20 feet from me a big guy who had just knocked a kid on his ass .. kid looked to be about 10 years old .. I yelled for the guy to cool down .. then he grabbed his daughter .. about 8 years old ..up by her left sholuder .. I yelled .."Put her down EASY" .. he dropped the kid and glared at me .. he yelled back "What trhe **** yo gonna do to stop me? " I replied .."No need to get nasty (yeah right ...) he starts walking towards me .. and I sense the presence of someone behind me .. it waS a black guy about the size of a Ford explorer ... I said .. stupidly .."I got this under sontrol" .. truck says, "You might think you got control but I don't think stupid there shares your confidence .. .. I got your six .. he can't take us both " .. about this time .. a voice says .." I got both your sixes ".. it was a regular duty Ocean City Police officer .. meanwhile stupid yells, "Those bastards are lying." Cop says: "Lying about you smacking your kids around. Sorry sir, but I was back in the crowd and saw the whole thing." I looked at the cop and said: "if you were a witness why didn't you jump in right away?" cop relies: "Well, you two seemed to have the situation under control, and anyway, I thought you guys might enjoy doing a little whup-ass on the son of a bitch."
cop arrested the guy.. never heard anything more about .. cop was witness and arresting official.. so they didn't need us at trial ..
