One of the delay's is this waiver about your flat feet. Also gotta have enough recruits to form a large enough class to make it all work correctly. Back in the day, my platoon started out boot camp with 97 recruits. We graduated 35. The rest were dropped for every reason in the book, or so it appeared to us.

Masoch, the best and most correct answer would be from an AF recruiter. But let me submit this logic to you: The USAF needs new men and women all the time but sometimes fewer and sometimes more, depending on national policy and fluctuation among AF personnel. Thus, there are always basic courses going on (for the minimum requirement). Let's just say a new one every 8 weeks. If the AF requires more people, there will be 2 starting every 8 weeks and so on. Right now I understand, the national policy is to reduce the AF (and Navy) in favor of more foot soldiers (Infantry and Marines) because they are really the ones who matter in the end. All the rest is support.
